River View
Stage 1

Rabbit Valley exit off of I-70.
The dirt road in to the trailhead follows the creek much of the way and a 4WD is recommended.
Park at the McDonald Creek trailhead.
The hike for this two stage multi begins at the trailhead and covers about four miles round trip. The terrain along the trail is fairly easy to navigate but some climbing is involved.

The first stage is a micro placed about a tenth of a mile into the trail and holds the coordinates to the final cache. The second and final cache is a loc-n-loc box located close to a petroglyph panel and is a quarter of a mile from the Colorado River.

You can see the river from the cache site but the views at the river are worth the extra quarter of a mile that you'll have to hike to get there.

There are supposed to be several petroglyph sites but so far I've only come up with two. The wildlife in the area is abundant and diverse and at certain times of the year you can see waterfalls along the trail.

Stopped just to get final coordinates. As I neared GZ, I just about stepped on the cache laying in the open on the ground. Coordinates inside were intact. Replaced cache in accordance with hint. Will return to hike McDonald Creek another time.

Checked on both stages this morning...Replaced the missing first stage and found the final where it should be.
Good to go.

Looked everywhere, no luck. It's been so long since anyone had logged it, I'm curious to know if it is still there. We decided to give up looking - wouldn't have had time for the second leg anyway.

While on a river trip, we stopped to put a new container in place but the ammo box was right there, under the cedar, where I left it. I didn't see anything else in the area that looked like it might be mistaken for a cache. I picked up the ammo box and put a camoed loc-n-loc in it's place but left the original log book, lot's of great comments. No trackables found.

I've found this one before. Went out to "rescue" the TB. Cache is only a ziplock bag now- no holes so may not have been here long?. A few tradeables, but no log - sorry I forgot to take any paper w/me. :(

Great Hike!! Have been wanting to do this cache for quite some time and decided my Birthday was the perfect time. Beautiful canyon especially with the trees starting their fall colors. Almost crawled right over the cache itself on my climb up. Coming back down was really interesting!! Thanks for a great afternoon. TNLNSL
