We'll gather from 10:00 – 11:00 am at the posted coordinates for coffee and fun. As always, note that food and beverages are available, but not provided by your host. Attending the event does not obligate you to participate in the bison tube exchange, but if you are interested continue reading.

Bison Tube Gift Exchange Guidelines:

1) Prior to coming to the event, I would like you to hide a gift (never-to-be published Christmas Cache) to be exchanged with another geocacher somewhere within 5 (FIVE) miles of the posted coordinates of this event. Please also do not go over a 2 difficulty or terrain as it is a fun event not a challenging one. The gift can be whatever you like... gift card, unactivated geocoins, TB dog tags, swag items, cache containers, etc. Please use your own judgement in selecting your gift items and make sure that they are about 20 dollars in value (container included). You may place your gift items in an inexpensive cache container (i.e., tupperware, Christmas tin, etc.) and hide it to be found later that day. Make sure your gift container is weather resistant and critter-proof. Don't forget to mark a waypoint for your hidden gift for step 2.

2) Bring a regular black bison tube, CLICK HERE if you need one, and are participating in the exchange. Inside the Bison tube, place a slip of paper with the coordinates of the Christmas Cache you hid for another cacher to find. In addition, it would be a good idea to write your geocaching name and cell phone number on the paper in case the Christmas seeker needs a phone-a-friend to help them find their Christmas Cache.

3) At the event, the bison tubes will be placed in a bowl and mixed up. Everyone who places a bison tube in the bowl will then be able to randomly choose another bison tube from the bowl. For those families with multiple cachers, you may bring more than one bison tube, but there needs to be one Christmas Cache hidden for each bison tube placed in the bowl or someone will be disappointed.

4) After the event, go find your Christmas Cache! Remember... the entire cache is yours to keep, including the container; so make sure you take everything with you after the hunt. These containers are never to be left behind nor published as a regular cache.

5) When you log the event as attended, please THANK THE CACHER WHO HID YOUR CHRISTMAS CACHE FOR THE GIFT. You may share what your Christmas Cache contained if you like, and feel free to post pictures of the Christmas Cache, too. You can even post a picture of the hiding spot, since this is not a regular cache hide. I'll leave the event page up for a while to make sure everyone can easily log and see others' logs.

Additional Thoughts...

You can be as creative as you want in hiding your Christmas Cache. You can make it a traditional type cache, or you can make it a puzzle-cache or multi-cache to make the hunt more fun. Use your imagination!

Anyone else have this happen? I grabbed the last bison on the tree and got Golden B’s, Golden B’s drew Barasaur, Barasaur drew mine.

Very fun event with large attendance. Chatted, had some coffee, did the group photo and then grabbed a bison tube. First a group of us went to a difficult cache nearby (strength in numbers). Learned at the event that Barasaur's annual Christmas cache was available so then we had to go grab that. Finally we were ready to find our Christmas cache. It was from waawhoo. He had given George a hint which he misinterpreted so it took some searching for the cache but we soon had it in hand. Nice container (will definitely be using it!) filled with a Starbucks gift card, candy and a stamp and ink pad. Thanks waawhoo !

So good to see everyone this morning, when I arrived the StarBucks parking lot was just about full! I wasn't able to get organized enough in time to participate in the bison tube exchange, but I will be sure to do so next year. Thank you barasaur for organizing us today!

What a fun event! Loved catching up with so many cachers. The bison exchange (and little Christmas Tree) was an excellent idea & lots of fun. Went searching for the prize cache afterwards, and ended up meeting several others at GZ, which was the location of a puzzle cache as well, so I got a two-fer there. I got a wonderfully-cammo'd cache with a Subway gift card & a gorgeous snowflake TB inside, hidden by One Kind Word (Thanks!). This Event was such a great idea, I really hope it becomes an annual tradition! TFTC!

Sitting here this evening reading all the great logs and enjoying the attached pictures. Max picked a bison tube from Bacon Fudge. Enjoyed the drive to a lovely spot by the Thompson River. Got a cool cache container, frosty card, starbucks gift card and a travel bug. Linda picked a bison tube from Above Average. She had to solve a sudoku puzzle to get the coordinates. No problem solving it, just a challenge with the garmen. It had us heading to Douglas Wyoming. That was a few miles further than 5. Re-calibrated and headed in the right direction. Still messed up on one number so gave Marilyn and Don a call. We were only a few feet off that time. Then had to dodge 3 huge semi generator trucks and a half dozen vehicles heading to the same turn out. Found the container with 3 cute trackable items and a green bison tube. Thankyou Bacon Fudge and Abv Avg. Great time !!!! Thanks Barrasaur and Quinsterfor the great event. Hope there is a repeat next year. Merry Christmas to all!!!!
