02 December 2023, 10:00 - 11:00
We'll gather from 10:00 – 11:00 am at the posted coordinates for coffee and fun. As always, note that food and beverages are available, but not provided by your host. Attending the event does not obligate you to participate in the bison tube exchange, but if you are interested continue reading.
Bison Tube Gift Exchange Guidelines:
1) Prior to coming to the event, I would like you to hide a gift (never-to-be published Christmas Cache) to be exchanged with another geocacher somewhere within 5 (FIVE) miles of the posted coordinates of this event. Please also do not go over a 2 difficulty or terrain as it is a fun event not a challenging one. The gift can be whatever you like... gift card, un-activated geocoins, TB dog tags, swag items, cache containers, etc. Please use your own judgement in selecting your gift items and make sure that they are about 20 dollars in value (container included). You may place your gift items in an inexpensive cache container (i.e., tupperware, Christmas tin, etc.) and hide it to be found later that day. Make sure your gift container is weather resistant and critter-proof. Don't forget to mark a waypoint for your hidden gift for step 2.
2) Bring a bison tube, (any color, and feel free to decorate it if you like) CLICK HERE if you need one, and are participating in the exchange. Inside the Bison tube, place a slip of paper with the coordinates of the Christmas Cache you hid for another cacher to find. In addition, it would be a good idea to write your geocaching name and cell phone number on the paper in case the Christmas seeker needs a phone-a-friend to help them find their Christmas Cache.
3) At the event, the bison tubes will be placed on a Christmas Tree. Everyone who places a bison tube on the tree will then be able to randomly choose another bison tube from the tree. For those families with multiple cachers, you may bring more than one bison tube, but there needs to be one Christmas Cache hidden for each bison tube placed on the tree or someone will be disappointed.
4) After the event, go find your Christmas Cache! Remember... the entire cache is yours to keep, including the container; so make sure you take everything with you after the hunt. These containers are never to be left behind nor published as a regular cache.
5) When you log the event as attended, please THANK THE CACHER WHO HID YOUR CHRISTMAS CACHE FOR THE GIFT. You may share what your Christmas Cache contained if you like, and feel free to post pictures of the Christmas Cache, too. You can even post a picture of the hiding spot, since this is not a regular cache hide. I'll leave the event page up for a while to make sure everyone can easily log and see others' logs.
Additional Thoughts...
You can be as creative as you want in hiding your Christmas Cache. You can make it a traditional type cache, or you can make it a puzzle-cache or multi-cache to make the hunt more fun. Use your imagination!
Message Quinster212 or Barasaur if you have any questions concerning the rules.
12/02/2023 By JrPuppyPaw It had been a while since I saw mom's friends, so I didn't mind coming to an event today. I had fun drawing some of the attendees. Thank you for hosting!
12/02/2023 By Killian33 I had a great time visiting with other geocachers. Thanks for hosting Bary and Donna.
12/02/2023 By SeekDaCache As we usually do, we cached our way to the much anticipated NOCO 6th Annual Christmas Bison Exchange in Loveland. We really catching up with everyone and sharing caching experiences and adventures. Thanks Donna & Bary for hosting this fun annual event! Wishing everyone the best during the holiday season!!!
12/02/2023 By Rew9828 I enjoyed catching up with some fellow cachers and choosing a bison tube off the tree at this event. I ended up pairing with 2LabLovers. Found my holiday cache not far away under a lovely spruce tree. It was an ammo can cache box with all kinds of fun swag and tools like a flashlight and paracord bracelet. The Texan in me was excited about the Texas challenge lanyard. I have several more Texas counties to get to, though am currently working on it! I found my cache along with some other Loveland caches with quinnster212 and Jbullfrog62. Thank you Donna & Bary for hosting this annual event! Wishing a merry & joyous holiday season to all & best wishes for lots of yellow smileys in 2024!
12/02/2023 By Denali41 What a nice pre- Christmas event. There were several geocachers in attendance whom I had not seen for a long time and it was SO nice having a chance to visit and get current with them again. The venue was a good one because it allowed us to be reasonably separated from other customers. Thanks, Bary and Donna, for again hosting this looked-forward-to annual event
