THIS IS A CHALLENGE CACHE, which is located at the listed coordinates. To log a find, you must have completed the challenge requirements specified below, and have signed the cache log.
The challenge requires finding a cache in EVERY County in a minimum of TWO States. Completing the County Challenge in any single State is a significant geocaching accomplishment. This challenge "ups the ante"!

Most States have specific County Challenge caches, and listing these for the two or more States you have completed, with their GC numbers and your log dates, is the easiest way to document your having satisfied the challenge requirements. Another efficient means of documentation is to include on your Profile the U.S. map that shows all Counties you have found caches in. Bookmark lists can also be used. No date restrictions apply, so all past finds qualify.

This cache is hidden at the base of a Ponderosa Pine tree near the summit of Point 7205. It is covered by a few small rocks, and should be easy to locate. Getting there, however, is NOT easy! It entails a strenuous off-trail hike on steep terrain from your parking spot along Colorado Highway 14 in Poudre Canyon. Approximately 750 feet of elevation gain is necessary, involving considerable bushwhacking. As is the case with many of our foothills-vicinity peaks, there is an abundance of prickly pear cactus on your approach, so be careful!

Views in all directions from the cache are amazing. But because of the rugged surroundings, vistas are restricted to a single Colorado County: Larimer. Enjoy the spectacular scenery! The Difficulty/Terrain ratings for the cache (5.0/4.5) relate to the overall challenge of meeting the cache requirements. The D/T ratings for reaching and finding the cache container are 1.5/4.0.

On October 30, 2011 I found and logged a similar challenge cache located in Michigan: "MaxB’s Multi State County Challenge" GC2QN4X. That wonderful cache provided the inspiration for this challenge cache in Colorado. Thanks, Warren and Maxine!

CONGRATULATIONS TO nickgatt FOR FTF!!

What a climb! Awesome views from the top, but the wind was strong. I braced myself against the tree while signing the log. I've gotten all the counties in Michigan and Colorado. Cache is in great shape for being alone so long. Great challenge, thanks!

I'd finished up all 64 counties in Colorado a year or so ago, and finally finished off my second state, Delaware, today. Hope to SL on this Challenge soon!

I qualify for this challenge with having completed the county challenges for Texas and Florida among others. Now to find and sign the physical log for this challenge.

Why did the cacher go up the hill? To get to one of Denali's challenge caches, of course! I knew I would eventually finish all the counties in Colorado so the last time I was back east I made sure to get all 3 counties in Delaware. I know I took the easy route but it still counts. The cache is in fine shape and right where it should be. TFTC

Bucky & I found this one on a spectacular day of caching! It was a beautiful day, with a temperature in the mid-50s in sunny skies. Perfect for this time of year! Approve

We first headed up to Loveland before sunrise, to finish a couple of the virtuals there, then it was over to Bobcat Ridge, and a little hike to get the blood moving, then finally we headed up the Poudre Canyon to finish out a couple of toughies that I've been meaning to log for quite awhile. Didn't get back to Ft. Lupton until after dark, but it was well worth it!

It was getting late in the afternoon when I got here and parked the truck alongside the road. Pushed up the hill and made the cache in a little over a half hour.

I love this kind of challenge cache, since I love going after counties. I currently have found all the counties in 9 states (Ohio, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, Nebraska, and Oregon), and have found the County Challenge cache for 8 of them (and DNF'd the one for Nebraska! Evil). Here are a couple qualifiers:

05/07/2007 GCZTXA The Great 88 Counties of Ohio Challenge
05/24/2012 GC3EGWD DJBACH CHALLENGE: 100% Oregon Counties

Thanks for the fun challenge cache! Cool

I have completed the Texas 254 County Challenge, GCRX6F, and have more than half the counties in several states. So one of these days I should be able to complete this challenge.
