Dogs  Scenic view  No Significant hike  Available during winter

I've hiked this little National Forest trail dozens of times and I always look forward to this little canyon with its beautiful rock formations. There are lots of big flakes of lichen on the rocks near this cache, but you'll need to turn your back on them to find it.
I don't recommend parking on Spring Gulch Road because the road association people like to leave notes with threats of legal action on cars that do.   You can get onto the trail from Pinewood Springs or you can park on Blue Mountain Road and take a scenic walk up Spring Gulch Road to the trail gate.

Thank you Barngineer for getting us off the couch on this beautiful November day for a quick hike and grab. FTF at 1:14 today. We made it a bit more of a challenge than it probably should have been since we forgot to download the cache information before heading out and of course lost cell coverage along the way. This required doing a bit of guessing as we scrambled around a fair number of junipers seeking the prize but in the end the ole geosense came to our rescue. Great spot and amazing sheets of peeling lichen to study.
