CONGRATULATIONS TO CACHEOSAURUS REX FOR FTF!!
This cache is hidden close to the summit of Winiger Peak, an officially Ranked and Named Peak of Boulder County. The elevation of Winiger is 8980 feet above MSL.

Views from this peak are remarkable, and the hike to its summit is worth the moderate effort that's required to observe these vistas and to sign the cache log (which is the treasure you actually seek). But make certain that while you are here, you witness the other treasures before you--the remarkable scenery from this position! You should enjoy every aspect of this hike and its location.

The cache is hidden under a rock near the "root end" of the large fallen log in the GZ area. It's a reasonable challenge to find. But be persistent, and the find will be yours.

It's been far too long between the time when I placed the cache until I've submitted it for publication. So I'm making the cache available to you now. Later, I'll add some fun descriptive information that will provide a context for the cache title. In the meantime, enjoy your pursuit of and completion of Add Winiger To Taste! You'll find a delicious entree in the views.

It troubled me that two consecutive DNFs had been recorded on this cache--because I felt there was extremely limited chance that the cache was missing so was concerned that something might have happened to make the cache even tougher to find. It's a challenging one to locate, but its position makes it highly unlikely that it would be found by a muggle, taken or damaged by an animal, or inadvertently be moved by weather events. So I decided to hike up to the cache site and verify it's condition. I knew that icezebra11 wanted to get to the summit of Winiger to find the cache so I invited him to join me. Our three puppies came along and we all had a superb outing. icezebra11 patiently searched for the cache and eventually found it in the spot it had been hidden. The cache container was in good shape but showed a dent from a rock having been jammed on it. And debris was somewhat covering it, which explains why the cache's normal difficulty might have increased a notch. I replaced it with a very sturdy container so it should be good to go for a long time. The original log sheet was transferred to the new container.

Denali41 and I had discussed getting out for a combination doggie hike and caching outing. He mentioned that he wanted to get up to Winiger and check on it because the last two logs were DNFs. So today he and I, plus his puppies Orizaba and Chimborazo and my puppy Angel, headed for the Rollinsville and Nederland area to do some hiking and caching.

This was our first stop of the day. We parked at the trailhead and set a course almost directly toward the cache. When we arrived at GZ I began searching. It took quite a bit of time but I was successful in finding the container. The hint that the cache was near the root end of the large fallen log was very accurate. But the container was wedged so tight under the rock (so tight it dented the cache) and so covered with pine needles that had migrated over time, that it is totally understandable how it could be missed.

But I happily signed the log on this long, lonely cache. After finding the cache I climbed the last few feet to the summit and took in the views of the IPW. The puppies enjoyed the climb too!

Thanks Steve for placing this cache and for another very enjoyable trip with you to the high country!!!

After two consecutive DNF logs I will hike to the cache location and check on it.

Searched for better part of an hour within a hundred foot circle of "the GZ area" with no luck.

I'm sorry that BigDamHeroes were unable to locate the cache container. It IS well-hidden, and I have no reason to expect it to be MIA. The next time I'm in the area I will make this enjoyable hike and check on the cache. But I'm assuming it is present in its correct hiding spot.
