Yay - FTF! I've looked at this puzzle on and off since it was published. Recently the owner asked if I solved it and then offered a hint. That helped and I made considerable progress but I started researching areas that were a bit too esoteric (i.e. I was making the puzzle way harder than it was). I received another hint from the owner and that sealed its fate. I got checker success. Thanks for a challenging puzzle. Fortunately the cache was a quick find.

P.S. I have sworn secrecy about the puzzle and wont reveal any hints - except perhaps if threatened to shake my hand or cough at me! Please contact the friendly and helpful owner.
