The Container
The Hiding Place

Altitude is approximately 8000ft. Very steep rocky climb. A good workout.
This is the first Cache I have placed. It is not to far from the road but can be a dangerous climb. The container is a round Ziploc twist top 2 cup container. The initial inventory is 1 notebook for logging entries, 2 small pencils, 1 Geocache notification note, and 1 Army unit crest pin for 502nd Personnel Battalion. This was my first unit at Ft Carson and deactivated the summer of 2007. The container is wrapped in Brown Duct Tape and is hidden behind a rock. Best place to park is by the Pike Nation Forest sign on Old Stage Rd. Have fun and be Careful.

This was my favorite cache! TFTC Took a Cherry Creek Sneak running medal (I will also sign up for that race) and left behind a traveler.

Favorite find if the day for sure. It is a tough hike to get there but very cool to get it.

Made way up here after a mad work week. Needed a little exertion before dinner, so climbed all over the finger before setting into an interest cache search. This was just what the cacher needed! Thanks for the cache!

Working my way up Old Stage Road within our bubble. Got to GZ and was a bit worried about making the find after reading the logs, but no problemo, dude! Still worthy of the D/T rating, though because of the hike to the cache. Thanks!

This cache certainly featured some high drama, quite literally. It was a extremely tough find, altogether I spent almost about two and a half hours at the GZ. Although previous cachers left some nuanced hints in their logs, all of it doesn't matter if your GPS refuses to cooperate. There are multiple ways to interpret the CO's and other cachers hints, I think I explored them all. I searched the left road, the right road, the high road, and even relived the experience of crawling thru the birth canal. When I went right, the GPS said left; when going left, it brought me right. For once, the strategy of coming up from behind the cache did not pay off. I brought a few items of climbing gear to help follow the GPS, but in the end, it was all for naught. After a pretty extensive search of all potential areas, it was time to call it quits. Dejected, I started the descent and headed back to the Xterra. Fortunately, I drifted a bit a started heading down a different direction. What's this, the geo-radar suddenly came to life! Dropping the pack, I moved in closer to examine. Right before I had to execute my "Rangers at Point Du Hoc maneuver," I came up with the find. The GPS had me no closer than any other of the death defying, make spider-man jealous moves I had been doing for the past two hours. The last two log entries from WingsAndTales and Estes01 are spot on, but hindsight is 20/20. The not so nuanced comment I'll make (somebody has to given the terrain) is if your searching seems too dangerous, then you are probably looking in the wrong spot. In the end, the hide was pretty tough to find and the CO has a very devious geo-mind. This was a great area for a cache, I'm glad the CO placed it here. I enjoyed the hunt, even with the all of the drama. Thanks for the cache!

We finally found a day with enough time to make the stop at this one. Once you know where the cache is it doesn't seem too bad but the process of finding that spot can lead you on interesting paths. I never seem to get tired of these. TFTC

This is one of those caches you could easily make more difficult by going too far left, right or up. And just for that reason alone, it deserves the terrain rating. This was the last cache of the day for WingsAndTales and I...too hot, even up there. Interesting spot. Thanks for the cache!

It is a great spot. I am just not a great hiker of steep climbs. I was making my husband very nervous even attempting this one. Thanks for the chance to stop and enjoy the wonderful spot.Smile

Clever, but we slid all the way down on the way back- probably is better to do when there aren't a bunch of fallen leaves- a lot of fun though!!
