We have been hiding caches in the Bristlecone trees. This one is near Windy Ridge near Alma, CO.
Standard ammo box with husker nation logo. Should be able to find it year round. May have to use snowshoes or skis to access it in the winter.

Many beautiful Bristlecone trees in the area.

We finally made it to Windy Ridge... they say the third time's a charm! At the mine we really tried to get the Subaru past the rutted, steep hill but failed. Had to cautiously back down and park at the flat area and then walked the 1/2 mile or so uphill to the Bristlecones. It was worth every oxygen-deprived breath we gasped, the view & pine trees were amazing! Took a few minutes to find the cache but we didn't mind exploring the trees a bit more closely. Thanks so much for bringing us up here, doubt we would have heard about this area any other way.
WOW!!

We made it in our Santa Fe to the road intersection below, but my huggle did take some risks where the creek was crossing & had cut pretty deep into the road a mile or more below & then again on the steep section just below past the mine. He decided he had taken enough chances & did not go any further so all caches were hiking from there.
This hike had some steep pitches too. As we hiked up a full sized Lexus SUV passed us going down, so a larger SUV could make it. When we got to the parking area near this cache there was a young couple in another regular sized SUV that had made it too. Of course as we hiked on up the hill to this one, they walked the same way too & ended up very close to GZ! We had to hang out for a few moments before being able to actually snag the container. After seeing so few people, what are the chances? For us, pretty high for some reason!
