Dogs  Recommended for kids  Takes less than an hour  Scenic view  No Poison plants  Cliff / falling rocks  Not Wheelchair accessible  No Drinking water nearby  No Public restrooms nearby  No Telephone nearby  Campfires  Not Stroller accessible  Short hike (less than 1km)  No Fuel Nearby  No Food Nearby

Cache takes you on a short walk around the lake and then up and over some rocks. Start of hike is easily accessible from the dirt road.
From Salida: take Ute Tail up into the National Forest. At the fork, veer left with Cr-184 as if you are going to the old town of Turret by following the main road. You'll come to the little lake (created by an mine that hit water) on your left with two convenient parking spots. Park there, get the dogs ready, and enjoy your hunting!
You're looking for an ammo box. Originally it contained a home made stickered ledger with a pencil and Ski Santa Fe pen, red silk rose, Park City lapel pin, reindeer finger puppet, Jolly Rodger sticker, Colorado patch, Leadville Trails Illustrated map, and complete retro snake bite kit. Hope you don't need the snake bite kit.

Lemonheadmafia and I enjoyed the day exploring some back roads. I can see a lot of camping is done in the area! Sl, thanks!

Great ride up the mountains to see the colors, get off the beaten path, and camp and 4WD. Not to mention grab some caches and take short hikes. This was a tough hide.

Wow, we couldn't believe that it has been almost 3 years since the last find. The rocks were super slippery because of the showers earlier in the day and it sure took us a long time to find it (but only after reading through prior logs). Tftc.

I had seen reports that this cache might need maintenance. Went up to it today, and I can verify that no, it is alive and well! No one had found it for a couple of years, so I brushed off the pine needles. FYI, it is nicely hidden under some rocks, but it's there!

Pretty sure this one is buried. Evidence of rock slide during spring runoff. I think it's 6 feet under.

We looked and looked for this but never found it. The spot were the coordinates took us some rocks had fallen so maybe it got covered up.
