Welcome to the Self Guided Tour (SGT) Early Churches of Fort Collins Whereigo cache.

This is a cache is meant to be enjoyed as a way to get to know some of the history and churches that made up early Fort Collins. Each location takes you to a different location where a church is or what around the 1900's in Fort Collins History.

This Whereigo is designed for smart devices but a GPS might work. I hope so but no guarantees.

All information in this were taken from the book THEN & NOW FORTCOLLINS authored by Barbara Flemin and Malcolm McNeill. The photos were also taken from this book though credit in the book belongs to the Fort Collins Library and Museum. I would recommend buying this book if your interested in Fort Collins History. The book can be purchased at Costco.

This cache can take some time if you are reading and taking your time or can be done fairly quickly if just for the cache. I hope you take the time to read about these churches as it was meant to be a learning experience.

The starting point is a parking lot and the tour could be walked in about 2.5 miles. It can also be done from your car and each zone should be able to be attained from the vehicle.

Have fun and when you log the final cache location please let us know which Church was your favorite.

There are times when geocaching is not all about the numbers found in a day. The wherigos often take more time; however, are well worth it. This cache was not exception. We had a great time walking the area and learning how many historic churches used to be in the downtown Fort Collins area. A bonus, walking to all the locations, was seeing many varieties of absolutely beautiful flowers in neighborhoods. Replaced a container at the final. Thanks Barasaur for creating this wherigo and we look forward to completing the Historic Schools and Homes caches, too.

Well, lunch time on a Friday may not have been the best time to play this one. The cartridge worked well and I parked and walked to a few since it was easier than dealing with traffic. Beware of wasps at the final. TFTC

Enjoying a trip out west and doing some wherigo's. This is my favorite type of caching instead of the skirt lifters. You get out and walk and learn new things while doing this type of cache. Thanks for all the time and effort into building these types of caches. Thanks for the cache-signed log.

Made a WIG run in The Fort after experiencing the total eclipse in WY. I really like historic site caches - giving favorites. Thanks for the fun!

Our home base is Ottawa, Ontario. We're doing a road trip starting and ending in St. Louis that will hit 8 states (some only briefly), and along the way we'll pause in Nebraska to hopefully see the total solar eclipse. We're targeting challenge caches, virtuals and other oldies, and various others of interest, mostly non-traditionals.

Having had success with the other SGT WIG yesterday, we decided to try this one too, before we headed out of town. It also went well, and the cache was a quick find once we got to GZ, where we found very convenient parking. Thanks for the WIG fun!

11:39 on a mild spring night

This was the last icon Team WiOrCa2 needed to cap a 9-icon day. We were interrupted in our quest by dinner with family, but we made sure to leave in time to do this Wherigo.

First, let me say that the subject of this Wherigo is wonderful. We enjoy looking for places of historical significance, and churches were some of the most beautiful architecture examples back then. Some critical thoughts, though: We would have enjoyed this more if it had taken us in a more thoughtful and direct route. It seemed a little haphazard. Also, the empty lots where a church used to be were a little bit of a let down. However, all-in-all this was a worthwhile time! Thank you for creating it and sharing it with us!
