Working the area power trails to knock out the Mystical Creatures quest. Just one more souvenir to get! This is a cut and pace log that if anything other then a quick find shall be noted. Thank you for the series and the maintenance of these caches.

Nearing cache #5,000 just before the GW-XVI Giga-Event, I'm determined to get my cache numbers closer to that goal, so EstesLynne & I headed out to the Pawnee Grasslands for this power trail of caches, which has also been on my list for several years. We picked the perfect spring day to be out on the plains - just gorgeous, with lots of meadow larks singing, painted buntings flitting about, and a few hawks soaring as well. Most of the caches were fairly easy, but several were falling apart, cracked or crumbling. we replaced as many of those as we could, just to keep the power trail going. Thanks to all those who put his trail of caches together & maintain them! TFTC!
Note: Replaced container.

BugRanger and I headed out to Grover to try to get her numbers up for a coming milestone, and I wanted to complete my smiley string out here. There's a lot more truck traffic on this road than there was a few years ago when I did the trail north of Grover; there wasn't much fracking then. We also had to dodge some road graders around Keota. Still, for the most part it went smoothly and we hit our goal of 100+ caches.
We tried to replace broken caches, but although we easily replaced a dozen, most were in serious need of TLC and there are many more to go. IMO, the day of 35mm canisters is past--even ones that were obviously put out recently are cracked and leaking, some (judging from logs) after only one winter. The high plains is too tough and the plastic, especially the lightweight white ones, is too cheap.
We also ran into a few missing caches, which we replaced (with one exception), and a few duplicates. Oh well, that happens in this sort of power trail. For all we know, we put down a duplicate or two. We also signed (depending on log condition) either with our full handles, or sometimes just EL & BR. But we're in there (unlike one recent claimant--in my book, you have to sign at least some scribble to prove you were here).
Sorry about the cut and paste. I have a lot to say about this run, but I can't do 100+ regular logs. If there's anything particular about individual caches, I'll add it. Thanks to all for the contributions to our numbers and to a fun, lovely, warm, sunny, bird-filled (lark buntings! meadowlarks!) day on the high plains!

Nice and easy. Visiting from Florida and what a contrast on the weather. Although it was cold and breezy it turned out to be a good day to grab a bunch of caches. The cache was in good shape. TFTC
