Girl Scouting in the United States of America began on March 12, 1912 when Juliette "Daisy" Gordon Low organized the first Girl Scout troop meeting of 18 girls in Savannah, Georgia.

It has since grown 3.7 million members.

Low, who had met Baden-Powell in London while she was living in the United Kingdom, dreamed of giving the United States and the world "something for all the girls." She envisioned an organization that would bring girls out of their sheltered home environments to serve their communities, experience the out-of-doors, and give them the opportunity to develop "self-reliance and resourcefulness." Unlike other organizations, from its inception, Girl Scouts has been organized and run exclusively by women, for girls and women.

Girl Scout Day recognizes and celebrates the Girls Scouts of America. This date celebrates the creation of the first Girl Scout group on March 12, 1912.

Lady Olave Baden-Powell, founded Girl Guides. The wife of Lord Baden-Powell (who created the Boy Scouts), she was born on February 22 (1889).

On March 12, 1912 Juliette Gordon Low started the first Girl Scout group in Savannah Georgia with 18 girls. The Girls Scouts became a national organization, and was was chartered by the U.S. Congress on March 16, 1950. Today, there are millions of girls involved with Girl Scouts.

Um, brr, brr, brr. It is so cold and stormy that they made everyone leave work early. I decided to grab this one before going home to keep my streak alive. TFTC!

Out with my great friend, #1 Beefers, for an all day geocaching adventure. It appeared to be missing so we put in a replacement cache. Once upon a time, I was a girl scout. Thanks for the placement, Imusttravel2000!

Out and about with great caching friend GanderGoose today. Excellent day for caching. And as usual we brought a picnic. Thank you for this placement Imusttravel2000. Replaced the cache, as it obviously wasn't there.
