Lemonhead mafia and I completed this as a field puzzle. His first puzzle! We went from starting coords and got to a good target. No luck. Well, it had been 6 years so we thought we'd give up. Then I spotted a location I thought would be better. After another search I finally found it. It's still in great shape! Tftc!

Stopped by the gate at Rampart Reservoir and got a little more info about this area. The Waldo Fire breached the Nichols Reservoir and repairs are in progress. Most of the hiking restrictions that resulted from the fire have been lifted but this area is still closed due to the construction. It is expected that the repairs will be complete next year and the area will be reopened. The Forest Service, Colo Spgs Utilities and CO Parks and Wildlife all have a say in the matter so it might take a while.

The area around Nichols Reservoir is still currently closed even over 4 years after the fire and may never reopen. You may want to consider archiving this cache so as not to tempt cachers to go there & try to find it.

Am I missing something here? I've had the cache "solved" for a couple of years, but the area is still closed due to the Waldo Canyon Fire. Right?

Shouldn't the cache be disabled to keep out-of-towners like me from wasting time trying to get to the area?
The order:

The exhibit map:

If I read the map correctly, Rampart Range Road south of Rampart Lake is closed and the area south of there is closed, too.

I have had this one solved (from Google Earth)since the day it came out, but I wasn't ever really sure if I got it right. Then I did something very stupid, I did not take the original coords with me today, only the solved puzzle coords. Thankfully my solution was on the money. The cache survived the winter well, but was laying out in the open. I secured it on a ledge in the seam. Very nice area, but very hard to get to. Clear FAV. Vort.
