Next in my phobia series.

Ophidiophobia or ophiophobia is a particular type of specific phobia, the abnormal fear of snakes. The word comes from the Greek words "ophis" which refers to snakes and "phobia" (meaning fear).

I have found several types of snakes while geocaching, often by suprise. This well protected cache will take you a very real, very snake friendly habitat. Use caution when searching for this cache.

Look before you reach.

The cache is protected by several "guardians". They are not the cache but a clue that you are very close to it. The cache itself is a 3" x 5" cylinder container that used to contain peanut brittle. You remember those peanut brittle cans, don't you?

Please replace exactly as found and don't spoil the "surprise" in your logs.

I took the day off to get highly favorited caches in the Parker area. This is one that was on my list. Took a little while to get over here since I came by way of the trail from Blarney Stone. The directions to find the cache were spot on once I found everything. So it did take a little bit, but wasn't too bad. Given the last log I made sure I was sitting down! This cache definitely didn't disappoint. A fun one with a nice twist at the end. And definitely appropriate to find this on April Fool's Day! I look forward to facing more phobias!

Thanks for the hide flyingbug. I appreciate you keeping this cache active for everyone to enjoy.

After getting this cache yesterday I thought log and hard about this. When I opened the container, I was standing on the rocks. The "surprise" caused me to flinch a lot. So, I wanted the CO and other cachers to know that they should SIT DOWN before opening the container. I would hate for the "surprise" to freak someone out and they lose their balance and fall and hit their head on the rocks.

Nicely done. Signed log.

The container was easily spotted so I put it back a bit deeper and covered it to keep the D/T in line.

Thanks flyingbug for giving me a reason to get outside. It’s always worth it when you are enjoying nature. There is nothing better than acting like a kid again, digging through weeds and climbing trees, all to sign my name on a piece of paper.

Found with Cachly for IOS.

Continued on the planetary pursuit with a stopped here. I found another snake-themed cache in a pile of rocks in CA, but this one was completely different. Well done, tftSmile, T: monster, L: Dopey, Army man (Hooah!). Gets a favorite from me. On the way back to the car, I spotted a kestrel... perhaps looking for this cache!
