! The Exciting Cache Series!
“COLORADO SPIRIT QUEST”
REMEMBER:
If you are APPREHENSIVE about cemeteries – AVOID this series.
The Colorado Spirit Quest is a series of Caches placed by many individuals, near cemeteries and historic sites in hopes of paying respect to the many pioneer ancestors that have ‘walked’ before us.
If you are interested in being a part of this project, contact may be made by sending an e-mail to the owner of “Colorado Spirit Quest #1 – Mo untain Passage”. Use the ‘Send Message” link at the center of the page of their profile.
There are hundreds of cemeteries in the rural and mountain communities across Colorado. This series will introduce you to many of them.
The cache pages will provide a virtual history tour of the cemeteries and tombstones.
The CSQ endeavor is an enormous and relentless task and will only flourish if there is a multitude of volunteer cachers willing to place these caches.
After locating the cache container, take some time to reflect back on the lives of those pioneers and the effort it took to make Colorado such a great state.
Each person that places a CSQ cache is responsible for its maintenance.

The cache is between the size of a micro and a small. You will not need to enter the cemetery to find it but you can get to it from within the cemetery. If you choose to go into the cemetery, park at the corner of Center and 7th and go though the hole in the fence at the end of 7th. If you choose to park outside the cemetery, park approximately 1/4 mile south of the cache location at the Rio Grande trail parking lot and approach the cache from the trail. The terrain rating for this approach is a 2.5
Welcome to Rosebud Cemetery. This is a very well maintained and cared for cemetery. There are perhaps 2000 graves here with the oldest we could find dating back to 1886.
Of historical significance is that Edward Taylor, a Colorado Senator and U S Representative has his final resting place here in a mausoleam made out of Yule marble. Besides being used for his tomb, Yule marble was used for the tomb of the unknown soldier and for the exterior cladding of the Lincoln Memorial. It's quality is regarded as the finest marble to be found in this country. Representative Taylor, in 1934, was the author of the Taylor Grazing Act which regulates grazing on federal lands. Also of some historical note is his responsibility for the legisation to change the name of the Grand River to the Colorado River in 1921.
