The Geocaching Podcast is a live show, call-in podcast, recorded on Wednesday evenings, and streamed on YouTube.

A couple of years ago they started what they call a 1UpMe contest. It's a competition to share the best story around a specific geocaching topic - best FTF story, best non-geocaching related explanation to a muggle for what you're doing, best gripe about geocaching, most creative cache you've found, etc.

If you win - as voted on by the hosts and the chatroom, you get a 1UpMe prize from the podcast and a "prize pack" from a non-official Geocaching store.

Personally, I think I have only watched live on YouTube once or twice in all the years I've been following the show. And have never called in. That is until very recently....

The topic that I called in on was Best Summer 2022 Caching Story. I had a good story! I thought I had a chance at winning! What was my story? Did I win? You'll have to figure that out for yourself. Here is a YouTube link for where the show "starts" (after promotional information and unrelated banter) GCPC 1UpMe Summer 2022   If you prefer a podcast player, I recommend starting at minute 13.

In order to solve the puzzle, just enter the GC my story was centered around.

If you want (NOT a logging requirement), recount your best Summer 2022 Geocaching story in your log. I'd love to read your story.

You can validate your puzzle solution with certitude.

That was a fun interesting adventure you had! Can’t think of anything fascinating that happened while geocaching this last summer, compared to being held at gunpoint by the police at an overpass on I-25 years ago, thanks to someone calling in that I was a jumper. Nope, this summer was pretty tame. Signed log. Thanks for your story and the cache!

This was a cool puzzle! I got a bit of deja vu because on a caching trip a month or so ago, Benj told me this story and how it was live on the podcast. Listening to it again a few weeks ago, I knew the ending haha. Pretty cool idea for a mystery cache. Now a few weeks later, I was looking around the map before heading to my Orange Theory class and saw that the final was right there in that parking lot! Perfect. As soon as I pulled up before class, a dude pulled up in a truck right next to me and just sat there, staring at his phone. Ok fine, I'll get the cache after the gym. After a ONE HOUR class, the guy is in the exact same spot, still in the truck, still staring at his phone! Is this guy for real? I said screw it and went for it anyway - he was not paying attention to me one bit. AWESOME container haha - great stuff. Thanks Benj for the unique puzzle and fun hide.

When this published I noticed the title and the cache owner. The puzzle was great. I'm happy that such a deserving person won the contest. A great byproduct is a new cache :) Today I made sure to stop by and look for this one. Container and puzzle earn a favorite!
Thanks for the cache!

I liked your story and I'm glad you won. My latest adventure involves Gc12 and 7/21/00 near Portland. Both are longish hikes uphill in remote woods (thus was just before HQ event so.lots of people). After the second one we got back to the rental car I noticed we gad a flat tire. FayColSalTom drove up.the road a little to not block parking. KenyanSherpa did most of the heavy lifting. FayColSalTom left message at rental car company . They didn't call back so we drove to Seattle on the donut tire. We took public transportation. FayColSalTom called again the next day and told her not to drive it very far . She went to airport that night and traded cars. Thanks for the puzzle and cache

It occurred to me that finding this in mid afternoon would be a good time given that this parking lot tends to really fill up for the evening. So I made the find right about 3 pm.

I think my best adventure this year was on a road trip where I found caches in Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, Utah and of course Colorado. Some of the best finds were in Utah on the way to where the Golden Spike was driven. There are many ammo cans out there in the middle of nowhere. I think every one of them was in some sage brush.

Thanks for the new cache close to home for me!

{FTF} @ 6:55 PM

Well, what's my geocaching story? I'm working on blacking out my FTF calendar and I hadn't completed this date, yet. When this published late in the day I immediately went into action to solve this puzzle and get the correct coordinates. It's not so far, but not exactly close to my house. And, the weather is a bit inclement. The roads weren't too bad. It was nice to be able to make the quick park and grab on this one. Now I've got another day in the books!
