We are again watching our son's dog Stormy for several weeks. In six weeks, We have hiked more than 70 miles with her to keep her happy.  Border collies have a very different idea in mind when you mention going for a walk!

Today while hiking down the Ribbon Trail in the Bangs Canyon area she approached an area at the end of a large section of slickrock that provided a spectacular view of the Grand Valley to the north, so we decided to drop a cache at that point.

The cache is located approximately 1/2-mile from the Ribbon trailhead parking lot off of Little Park Road. Access the trail through the gate nearest the restroom building in the parking lot and follow it to the large slickrock slab then proceed down the slope to the cache.

BE CAREFUL IF SEARCHING WITH LITTLE ONE SO THEY DO NOT GET TO CLOSE TO THE EDGE OF THE SLICKROCK

Sometimes your eyes just skip over what you are looking for. Quick find this morning, but the container was empty. Ripped a piece of my DD214 for a new log, signed it. TFTC!!


6/1/17 This cache hasn't been found in quite a while so, being the optimist I am, I was sure I could find it. Did not find it but I did have my breath taken away!

Went out to check on previous DNF and indeed the cache was missing. We replaced it about 130 back away from the cliff to a location where hikers would most likely pass by.

Went for a hike on the slabs with shadow star, took the correct fork but the coords were far enough off that I walked to the other side to double check, shadow found it after I decided that 30 feet was as close as my phone would get. Thanks, this one was easier than the last one nearby.
