It's almost Halloween! My favorite time of year for a spook! This is the first in a series of caches I'm hoping to place that get you thinking a little bit about death and what exists beyond.

Here today we begin around the corner at Voodoo doughnuts. Oh, everyone has heard of these doughnuts! They are famous worldwide.  What people don't hear about is what goes on inside those 4 walls in the wee hours of the night.

Let's go back in time a little. This building has been used for several different businesses over the years. Prior to Voodoo taking it over, it was a rent a center. You can still see the signage above the shop if you look carefully! Now the space is split in half and a small bar occupies the other half. Voodoo was lucky enough to inherit the east basement.  When entering the lobby at Voodo, you work your way to the atm and then through the maze waiting patiently in line. When you get to the front of the line,  you'll find yourself face to face with the east basement door. It is rumored that a rent a center employee committed the terrible act of suicide in that basement. People who have entered there have explained a heavy overwhelming feeling. One employee talks about having the urge to flee quickly when she is down there. It doesn't help that there are some pretty weird things stored down there including a taxidermy panther and a creepy doll positioned in front of the surveillance camera.

Of course this death is just a rumor, but you can't deny people's gut feelings, can you?

Fast forward a little. There was an employee by the name of Robin (Rob lobster) who collapsed and was very sadly diagnosed with a brain tumor. He passed away just months later, but most claim he died on the clock yeasting doughnuts.  Obviously this story in particular is very sensitive to a lot of the management and employees who loved Rob and I've not reached out to clarify the circumstances.  It is certain he was loved dearly and died as a Voodoo employee of glioblastoma in 2015. In fact, the shop actually helps raise funds for the national brain tumor society in his honor.

Perhaps the most horrific death to happen on the premises was on April 2nd 2017. A 42 year old man stopped in around 1am to participate in the Tex-ass challenge. The challenge was to eat an entire half pound Tex-ass doughnut in 80 seconds or less. Unfortunately,  he choked on that doughnut and was pronounced dead on the scene around 1:30am. Voodoo has since suspended the Tex-ass challenge,  but does still offer the doughnut for sale as a special order.

Employees that work the overnight shift are convinced of the store being very evidently haunted. I've heard accounts of people hearing footsteps in the lobby and going to help a customer that is not there.  I have also been told they frequently see someone walking up in their peripheral vision to look over and find no one there. One employee talked of hearing a step ladder open and be positioned just to look at the ladder less than 10 feet away still folded where it sat leaning on the counter. Perhaps the creepiest stories are those of being alone on the floor and hearing someone say your name or feeling someone brush past you.

All of the info obtained for this posting were provided by current overnight employees of Voodoo doughnuts.  Obviously what you believe is up to you!

Stop by at night, maybe 3am? Ask an employee if they think it's haunted. Muahahahaha!

Please note: You will need tweezers or pointy witch nails to retrieve the log.

Got to Denver a day before i needed to start the setup for the big volleyball tournament so of course I needed to go caching.

I felt uncomfortable searching the brick wall, good thing i didn't need to.
