One of our 'Placeless Names' series. Names on the map that may once have been a real 'place'.

Placed near what once was the rural community of Cedarwood.  It had been a railroad stop that had a station/warehouse.  The little townlet served the ranching and farming economy.  One source of information indicates there was a post office and that cedar fence posts were cut in the area (hence the name).  It's now just a 'placeless name'

Terrain gets a 3 because you have to scale a small hill that gives a view of the country.

Spotted this on the map. South of GZ and west of the station.

FTF! with nite_raven at 5:50pm.
Last time we took Exit 74 and took 345 to the Cedarwood Bridge cache. Having never been beyond the bridge we wondered where the road went to, saying we'd come back one day. Then we backtracked to the Interstate. Later realizing on the map that 345 continues back to Exit 77 closer to home. Ended up doing the same thing again this time. We came in through Hatchet Ranch and wound our way back here. After the cache we left the same way. Upon looking at the map we discovered that 342, which is way less winding, pretty much straight, would have led us right back to Cedarwood Bridge. Now we know.
Had an awesome sunset over the mountains and spotted some antelope. Lots of evidence of cattle at GZ but none around. Got the usual 'old timer in a pickup checking to make sure we didn't need help' as we were leaving GZ. Checked out Cedarwood. Looks like the concrete station/dock? is still there. Thanks for bringing us to another neat 'if it wasn't for geocaching' spot.
