Mountain biking today in this area, and pushing the bike on the very steep parts! Got to ground zero for stage 1 but no luck finding the cache. Looked for a LONG time. But I got a workout getting up this hill and the view was terrific. Thanks.

I originally had planned to go after a single lonely cache today but when I got up this morning my knee was still a little sore from the 14 mile CMC hike in RMNP on Saturday. So I went with Plan B which was to get a couple D/T combos that will move me closer to my 5X Fizzy and some other caches that will help with challenges I'm working toward.
I first headed up to the Peak to Peak highway and then down Overland to get three caches east of the Ceran St Vrain trail. Then I headed to Bunce School Rd and found the CO's cache just beyond the school. After logging that one, I headed Parachute Hill Rd. I parked at the bottom of the road where it turns off 82E. My truck could have made it quite a ways up the road but it needs to get a little older before I bounce it up these trails.
After the short but steep hike I arrived at GZ. Lots of debris and branches lying around but after a little searching I made the find of Stage 1. Plugged Stage 2 coordinates into the GPSr and headed for the final.
After another steep but shorter hike I arrived at the final location. I was happy for the hint as there are lots of places to hide a container in this location and it was very well hidden. When I retrieved it I found that both latches were broken and the top was partway off. There were several items on the ground around it and I put them back in the container before re-hiding it. I signed the log and was happy to notch another 2.5/4.5 cache, my fifth one. I carefully re-hid the container so the lid wouldn't come off. The next finder may want to bring a small container to replace this one (about the size of a sandwich container.)
I arrived back at my truck just as it began to sprinkle. This was my last hike of the day and my knee felt pretty good when I got done. Thanks Red Ruby for placing this challenging multi with the right D/T!!!

Waawhoo, what a great adventure. So glad we never gave up. At both stops there are a lot of freshly trees down in the area. Thanks Red Ruby for this great mulit.
Almost to the top.

Spent the day jeep-caching with Waawhoo, EstesLynne & the Memfis Mafia on jeep trails south of here. This was one of our goals for the day, as we all needed a multi-cache for one of the August souvenirs. The road to stage 1 was open, and Memfis nearly parked on top of the cache at GZ. Based on the hints & previous logs, we'd thought it would be easy-ish, but since this has been a "lonely cache" (over 1.5 years since last find), it blended in. EstesLynne finally made the find. We hiked out to stage 2, which was a bit steep, but nice views at the top. After bit of searching, we found the cache. Container's locking flaps are cracked, but otherwise in good shape. TFTC!

Thanks for the fun day of caching.
We went out today in a couple of Jeeps and had fun picking up some caches away from the crowds. We have tons of photos and videos we will slowly upload. There were six in our group in all and I'm pretty sure I can safely say we all had a great day playing in the hills of Colorado. This one hadn't been found in almost two years. The container needs a little TLC but the log was in great shape.

Out for a 4WD caching day with waawhoo, the Memfis Mafia gang, and Bug Ranger. This was a huge goal--I needed this for my Fizzy (now only 4 to go!), and we all needed a multi this weekend for this year's August souvenir game.
The first stage is very tricky, but it's there, in good shape, and the coordinates are decent. After reading hints and logs, we just started examining everything near GZ, whether it looked as though it could hold a 35mm canister or not. After some serious frustration for all of us, I was shocked to reach into/turn over/reach up to/bend down to/etc. (hey, we worked for it, no freebies from me) something and see the elusive canister. WHEW.
With final coordinates in hand, we all headed off to find the final. This, too, was well camouflaged, but again the coordinates were very good and we finally had it in hand. The clips on the box are cracked so it doesn't seal too well, but we didn't have repair materials, and it otherwise seems to be in good shape. Hooray! A great outcome! We have our souvenirs, and a big smiley! TFTC!

This cache was my primary goal for the day, and I'm glad I didn't come up empty. The road was partly washed out, so it has a blockade on it down near its start. Many people seem to have ignore the "road closed" sign from the looks of the new tracks that go around the roughest spots. I'm sure my Jeep could have made it al the way to the first stage of this cache, but I chose to obey the sign where I parked. It was a nice day for a hike anyway. I found the first stage by dumb luck. Time and weather have really made its cover blend in with the environment. The final stage was also well-hidden, but the perfect coordinates led me to it after a few missed attempts. The contents of the container were in perfect condition. I never would have guessed that the log was several years old except for the dates written in it. I took one of the hand warmers and left a squished penny. Thanks for placing this cache. The views made the effort worthwhile.

Another great day in the mountains, Jeeping and caching with
Red Ruby and Mountain Roamer. TFTC!

you already know all this....
Team Red Rubicon (Red Ruby, jpit and I) decided to go out today and run Johnny Park Road and Pierson Park Road. It's been way too long since we went jeeping so we were really glad to see that the trails are open!
We'll have to go again and look for the road I found!
Thanks!

Being cautious with my vehicle, I parked at the start of Parachute Hill Rd and enjoyed the walk. I didn't have the hint but managed to bumble around and find WP1. Loved the rocks and the wonderful view. Thanks for getting me up here. It was a perfect fall day for a hike.
