How many times have you read "found it, but forgot a pencil & didn't sign the log" when reading the online logs for the micros in this area? How many times have you gone on an impromptu cache hunt, made the find, only to realize that you forgot a pen!

This cache is initially stocked with a dozen golf pencils, and will be re-stocked as needed. Because of the cache location, the pencils are made from recycled US currency rather than wood. It is also stocked with some CITO trash bags (made from 100% recycled plastic of course) should you need to deal with a bunch of litter. They make fine recycling bags too, if some of the litter happens to be aluminum cans. Even the cache container is recycled.

The pencils and bags are a gift--no need to trade anything for them--but there is also plenty of space for traditional trade items. Please note on-line when you take a trash bag so it can be restocked.

Although it is a few miles from the ocean, it is named for its location (you'll see when you get there). It's placed on private property with the company's permission; there is no need to go inside a gate or fence. The employees know the cache location so don't be concerned if you are observed; but use stealth so that non-employees do not spot the cache.

I have rented a campervan for 24 days to go geocaching and exploring around the western part of the US, starting in Denver.

Today I drove from Montrose to Manti - La Sal National forest, with the aim of finding the oldest cache in Utah: Potters Pond. As always, I try to stop to find a geocache in each county.

After a scary incident in Montrose last night, with lots of police, firefighters and ambulance at the parkinglot where I slept (don’t know if someone got shot), it was really nice to sleep out in the forest tonight.

About this cache:
A quick and easy find. No pencils or trashbags in the cache anymore, but still a nice cache to find.

Not usually out this early but, a friend needed a ride to work this morning just a few blocks from here. Decided I haven't geocached in this area yet, and seeing how its my day off and I have all the time in the world today...decided to just look for some caches between here and home. Ironically enough, I just pulled over to see how close I was to the nearest one. Lo and behold it said459 feet to this one. When I looked up from where I was stopped, I saw the Pacific sign. Talk about a 'Meant to Be' . lol
Easy find. Great container. But a bit bummed out to find the pencils were gone Was looking forward to seeing one of those. Anyway, took a Pacific Steel sticker and immediately put it on my truck to commemorate this early morning event and replaced it w/an ASPCA dog tag. (Also for good reason...as my two fur-babies were with me on this one

P.S.
So my phone was too dead to take a picture of my pooches ( like I said earlier, thus was an impromptu idea ) So, since I still had trash bags in my truck (yes the trash bags that are supposed to be in this cache are also all gone) from the construction clean up I did last night, AND there actually was quite a bit of trash along this fence line, AND this cache mentioned picking up litter.. I cleaned the area of trash while my phone charged enough to capture the pic. Its quickly becoming a FEEL-GOOD kinda day for me

Yikes, there is construction work going on around this cache, but the flag people were nice about getting us in and out of traffic. Quick find once we got parked. Thanks for the interesting find.
