I had the opportunity for a geo-run in Jefferson County today, so I chose to do my hike in Deer Creek Canyon Park. I had previously hiked the western portion in March of 2016, so today I was happy to try the terrain in the eastern portion. Despite a late start, I was very happy with my mileage today (12 miles), the overcast weather, had lots of fun picking up caches, and enjoyed the scenery. I decide to give this cache a try because it looked fun, the terrain looked cool, and the cache had a nice D/T rating. I had a rocky start because the GPS was not cooperating. Fortunately, I was able to sort that out. I wasn't planning on coming after this one, but could not resist once I saw this cool spot from a distance. After a short hunt, I was grateful to make a drama free find on this cache. Thanks to the CO for placing this nice cache and bringing me to Deer Creek Canyon Park, TFTC.

My #1964 with David coming back to Deer Creek Canyon to grab 8 caches today. We live at 300 feet in Pennsylvania, so the 8 mile hike with 1500 feet of elevation gain on our third day here was a stretch. For this one, we had intended to get it in July 2015. But a thunderstorm was brewing, and David insisted that we head down the mountain. So today, this was our target. We got to the top, took some photos, and then made our way to near groundzero. Hint helped me climb to the appropriate spot while David took pictures. Quick find. Cache is well stocked with books now. I left a diplodicus put together kit sort of shaped like a book. Hike and views as well as the lieberry itself earn a favorite. TFTC.

For Jeffco Open Space. No problem except there's only one book. The lieberry needs to be fed.

This was a really fun one. It took a while to find. Even after I found it, took a while to retrieve. Really well hidden. Really nice spot for a hide. Nice cache, too. Gotta love those six digit GC codes. I eventually spotted it but couldn't get the container in hand. I was however able to get the log book out, and I signed it and wrote about my experience. Found out after the fact that I was going about it the wrong way and so retrieved for real, and added to what I wrote in the book.
This was my target cache for the day, and was also my favorite. Gonna try to find one more on my way back down, but I need to hurry. I'm running out of light. I'm running out of battery. Story of my geocaching life. TFTC!

Out for a morning trail run and took the opportunity to grab 6 Deer Creek hides. I have now earned a smiley face for every cache in the park :-). it was a beautiful morning and I got to watch an amazing sunrise. I set off from the car at 6:30am, took the back way up, ran the Red Mesa Loop and Golden Eagle trail and was back in the car by 9:00am. Not much snow and ice on the ground but the trail back to the car got a bit treacherous about half way down. This really is the best time of year to come. Not much snow, no snakes, cool weather (but not too cold) and not another person in sight :-)
Found this one after a couple of minutes. GPS was bouncing around at first. SL. TNLN. Thanks for the great hide, the view from here is fantastic. This has been on my bucket list for a while.
Fantastic view

We loved going to the mountain top and we loved finding your cache. Thanks for the good directions. That made it easy to find along with the clue. I took the travel bug. He has been there for a year! What a great location. And I love an ammo box! The clue was awesome, too. This will be a favorite!
