Thanks for the DNFs and notes. It appears that, after only 2 finds, our cache has been either muggled or stolen. We will work on a replacement.

Today I came over to look for this one with 2lablovers. We quickly discerned which side of the creek to search and identified the likely host. But that's where quick and easy ended. We earned our 3 terrain rating approaching the GZ. I saw footprints around the host... maybe a day old or so. But after about an hour (including travel time from our parking spot) we came up empty. So I reviewed the logs and realized that I made a bad assumption. I had been using the footprints and lack of them to determine where to look for the cache. But logs indicated the last find was in November - certainly before the snow. So the prints? Three possibilities. 1. Cacher who didnt log their DNF. 2. Curious muggle. 3. The person who took the cache. A previous finder confirmed we were in the right spot. No luck today...

DNF on this one. Searched in the cold and dark. Lots of places to look. Maybe we will have better luck during the day.

Wow that was a tough one. Your 8 yo is quite adventurous for sure. When I got close to GZ I saw a young man in the creek. I thought kids were playing since it had been a warm fall day. But he was gold panning. He greeted me & showed me all about what he was doing. He even panned some for me & showed me the gold flakes. Then he showed me how his sluice box worked. Then I asked him if he had heard of Geocaching & yes he had gone a couple of times. I told him there was one nearby. I searched the easy area for a bit while he cleaned up. Then I decided to try the other side so left him. I couldn’t find any access so I went back & he was gone. I decided the terrain rating must be right so i actually searched very close to GZ & finally uncovered a nice sized cache.

Well, it took a while, but perseverance paid off. My phone GPS didn't help much, as it bounced around, so I just kept looking and looking. Nicely done. TFTC.
