Congratulations to OR85OR450 - First to Find!

This micro cache is situated on the final approach up the south ridge of Cheyenne Mountain on the way to the Cheyenne Mountain T-33A crash site and the now-archived cache Search Party, GC2MTDJ. The Park recently opened the Dixon Trail to the public, enabling access to a large area of the park that was previously inaccessible. The trail continues to the Mountain Loop around the summit area of one of the three peaks comprising Cheyenne Mountain.
The most direct route to the cache for hikers and cyclists is via Talon Trail to North Talon Trail, then to Dixon Trail (see waypoints). Be prepared to hike or ride over 10 miles round trip from parking. Equestrians should take Sundance Trail from parking to its intersection with Talon Trail.
PARK ONLY IN DESIGNATED LOTS...DO NOT PARK ALONG THE ROADWAY OR IN FRONT OF LOCKED GATES. Day use fee or Colorado State Park pass required. No dogs are allowed on these trails.

Considered one of the "crown jewels" in Colorado's extensive state park system, Cheyenne Mountain State Park is the result of strong partnerships and years of thoughtful planning. Acquired in June 2000 through a partnership between the City of Colorado Springs, Colorado State Parks, Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO) and other local private organizations, the park represents the protection of one of the last significant open spaces along the southern section of the Colorado Front Range.
This cache is placed by permission of Senior Ranger Darcy Mount. Please be respectful of all surroundings and stay on established trails. All the twists and turns of the trail system have been designed to get you safely through the terrain and to protect the wildlife habitat. There is nothing to be gained by trying to take a shortcut. If there is any problem with the cache, please note it in your log.
