I  have enjoyed hiding caches for everyone, and I've wanted to make them fun and educational. I am an aviation enthusiast and so I decided to start a series on aviation - I hope you will enjoy it!
This is the second in my series called "Airplane Lovers". It is also called "DC-10" because I chose to highlight this airplane typ for this geocache.

The McDonald Douglas DC-10 has been flying since around 1970. It was known as the "Tri-Jet" due to its 3-engine configuration with that huge engine on its tail. It is a very large airplane and it commands attention when it lands and takes off rom Denver International Airport. It can carry 380+ passengers and crew, can fly up to 4,000 nautical miles, and has a top speed of 505 knots. The DC-10s that fly in and out of Denver are operated by Federal Express mostly, although a few other commercial companies still have DC-10s as well.

This is a picture of one of FedEx's DC-10 flying into Denver. They come in religiously between 5:15 and 5:30 PM. If you are geocaching this cache around this time keep an eye out to the East for its distinctive size, white body and blue tail. They fly even on weekends.

The Air Force has a fleet of these DC-10s called KC-10s, which means they are configured for in-air refueling role. You might see one of these if you attend an air show.

Construction area no cache. Visiting from California with our friends Ladditude, who introduced us to Geocaching in 2004. Enjoyed the beautiful Colorado sky and picked up 35 caches on the run. Thanks to the CO's for placing these great caches. SL
