Needs maintenance

I WANTED TO PLACE CACHES THAT HIGHLIGHT AND TEACH OTHERS ABOUT BIRDS OF PREY. I PLACED THESE CACHES WHERE I HAVE SEEN THESE BIRDS. IF YOU COME TO T HIS CACHE WHEN THEY AROUND PLEASE BE SENSITIVE AND RESPECT THEIR PRIVACY BY KEEPING YOUR DISTANCE. COME BACK ANOTHER DAY. THEY DO AVOID THE PRESENCE OF HUMANS AND TRY TO STAY OUT OF THE WAY.

THE NORTHERN HARRIER  IS SEEN QUITE FREQUENTLY IN COLORADO, HAVING BEEN SPOTTED QUITE OFTEN NEAR THIS CACHE. IT IS ALSO KNOWN AS THE MARSH HAWK, AND IS A HUNTER OF SMALL TO MEDIUM MAMMALS. THEIR FLIGHT IS BEAUTIFUL AND GRACEFUL, ALTHOUGH SOMETIMES IT LOOKS LIKE THEY ARE OUT OF CONTROL AS THEY TILT BACK AND FORTH WITHOUT WARNING. THEY ARE THE ONLY HAWK-SIZED BIRD OF PREY THAT HAS A DISTINCTIVE WHITE BAND AT THE BASE OF THEIR TAIL, AND EASY FEATURE TO SPOT. THEY HAVE AN OWL-LIKE FACE WHICH CONFUSES MANY WHO FIRST SEE T HEM. THEY ARE SHY AROUND HUMANS AND WILL PROMPTLY LEAVE THE AREA WHEN SPOTTED.

YOU OFTEN SEE A HARRIER CRUISING THESE FIELDS AT ABOUT 10 FEET OFF THE GROUND. I PLACED THIS CACHE HERE BECAUSE OF THAT.

I HAVE HANDLED A NON-RELEASABLE HARRIER WHICH WAS INJURED WHEN HIT BY A CAR. THEY ARE VERY BEAUTIFUL BIRDS!

We were heading for home today (UK) and a late flight mean't we had plenty of time for Caching. We also wanted to be fairly close to the airport these caches were perfect ;-)

Cache soon found.

Didn't have the privilege of seeing any Harriers today, but they are, indeed, beautiful to watch. Thx!

Earlier today I went out with benj59 and heh324 to do the Russellville Road power trail. Our time was somewhat limited, yet we still managed to find over a hundred in about 3 hours.

When I got back home, I realize that I still had enough daylight to see if I could break my record for finds in a day. I somehow pulled it off and broke 150 for the day. All of these caches out here in the plains were crucial in helping me achieve this goal. Thanks to all the CO's for placing and maintaining these fun hides.
