A cache near Dynamite Cabin in Mueller State Park.

Located in Mueller State Park a few feet off Dynamite Cabin trail (trail # 32), approximately 1.8 mi round trip from Grouse Mountain trail head with a 200 ft Elevation Loss/Gain.  As you search for this cache, the trail descends and twists through tree trunks, and if you look close you will see the ruins of Dynamite Cabin on your left, set back in the trees.  Use caution around the precarious timbers of the old cabin.  This cabin was used in the late 1800’s as temporary shelter for hunters and trappers.  When the Mueller family owned this land, they found a box of dynamite hidden in the cabin, thus the name Dynamite Cabin.

The cache name was derived from the cabin name and there is no danger in the area. The cache is not hidden in the cabin ruins.

Day use fee or Colorado state park pass required.

Placed by permission of Mueller State Park; please be respectful of all surroundings. Stay on trails as much as possible, avoid creating social trails.

All trails are open to hiking, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing.  The trail map available from the Mueller State Park web site shows which trails are open to biking and horseback riding.

Pets are prohibited on all trails and in the backcountry.

Park only in parking lots or trail heads, not on the roadways or in front of gates or fire equipment.

Please stick to established trails. All the twists and turns of the trail system have been designed to get you safely through the terrain and to protect the wildlife habitat.

See the park brochure for additional park regulations.  The trail may be closed from June 1 to June 20 every year for elk calving season.  Check at the visitor center.

Please sign the log in this container and trade small unscented items if you desire.
Enjoy this piece of park history.
Original cache contents are log, pencil, small kids toys ect. Stay on trail as cache is only a few feet off  trail .

Geocaching Responsibly

A great rule of thumb is to leave any caching location in better condition than when you arrived. Observe posted signs, stay on designated trails, do not trespass onto private property, and even pick up any litter you find along the way.

Always make sure to observe safe hiking practices when geocaching, be mindful of your hiking experience and limits.  The most important thing is to get outside and safely have fun!

Practice "Cache In Trash Out®"

While out geocaching, bring a bag with you to pick up trash along the way. Visit the Cache In Trash Out® page to learn more about CITO.

Perfect winter day for hiking in Mueller State Park. Little more snow here than other parts of park and that may increase tomorrow. TFTC
