More than 350 species of birds have been spotted at Barr Lake.  Numerous bald eagles winter at Barr Lake and one pair stays to nest and raise its young every year.  From this location, you may be able to see many different species.  The main entrance to the State Park is from Picadilly Road.  The park hours are 5 a.m.-10 p.m.  A daily pass ($7) or annual pass is required for entry to the park.

Take a hike on a trail adjacent to the lake to arrive at the cache location.  Look for the TRAIL sign to begin your nature walk.  The cache is a large 'small' size.  Please take care returning it to its hiding place.

Headed a little north today with both dogs to do some caching. Started out a little chilly but then warmed up to be a perfect April day. Fred and Kara are having a wonderful time - and best for us - they are finally getting tired ! Enjoyed the walk to this one. Left a TB.

First time at Barr Lake.
What a great area.
Lots of geese and bald eagles.
And as an addition some geocaches.
Thanks for showing the park!
I will definitely be back some day!

Needing a few more caches to get another souvenir and DaWife being off and today being the coolest day of the week, we decided to come out to the park and make an afternoon of hiking and caching. We parked by the visitor center and started walking, it was warm and pretty windy which made walking enjoyable. There were lots of pelicans out on the lake with a few flying around keeping us entertained. Pretty so, we arrived at GZ and after a little looking we had the cache in hand. The weather was starting to turn, really windy and lots of dark clouds to the south, so we high tailed it back to the visitor center. TFTC.
