Next to Never Sweat Lake on the Grand Mesa, mostly flat ground but cache is in a rock garden (you won't have to go over too many rocks before getting to the cache).
We placed this cache in memory of Jimmy Waegli who died earlier this year in an accident, leaving behind his wife and children. He was misguided at times but cared for everyone he encountered, and always had a smile on his face no matter how hard things were. Cache is an ammo box with some cool stuff like, Eagle Eye binoculars, Fishing lure, Mini Pink Radio, and other smaller stuff, all brand new unopened. ****CONGRATULATIONS TO MOMMABEAR, BEARMOOSE, & LIL BEAR 1&2 ON YOUR FIRST TO FIND!****

Have been in the processes of attempting to log every single cache on the western half of Grand Mesa for some time. Logged "Where the Bear Goes in the Woods" some months ago but did not have an ATV at the time so were thinking of from the general area "Easterly" of the highway westward.

Since then was loaned the use of an ATV for the summer AND we decided to log Leon Peak for our 700th cache so now are attempting ALL caches on Grand Mesa. With what we have found over the last two weekends (these logs - some a bit late) we still have 5 to go. Of those 5, one was just replaced and is now a sure thing, 3 we have DNFed and think 2 of them are gone (not found in over 2 yrs) and have a hint on the 3rd, that leave only one other way up in the NE to get.

Not sure we will make it before the snow flies but with the ATV we sure have been having fun seeing the expanse of back country off road GRAND Mesa! We want to thank all the Geocachers who have set so many in far flung places that we have had to go to and learned so much of the history of the mesa in the process - not to mention having set several dozen of our own while doing it! At the same time - with the support of the visitor center rangers - we have set several Earthcaches and will be holding an International Earthcache Day Event at Land of Lakes Overlook (Island Lake) on the 12th and have been in a frenzy getting ready for that and several 5k run routes!.

Had planned to use ATV to get the 4 caches around Neversweat and Big Meadows Reservoirs last week (27th) but had elderly family with us that FREAKED at the sight of the last bit of road going out to Broken Down Limbs so we canceled that and any thought of using the ATV for some of the others and headed for pavement! Fast forward to this weekend, unloaded ATV at Bonham, grabbed this one, headed to Big Meadows and then Neversweat and after logging ALL FOUR (YEAH!) took the main road back in 1/4th the time!

We actually drove by this one while on the trip mentioned above (27th) but were not really planning to go for this particular one. As I drove by and got the GPS distance to GZ I groaned! as it looked like it would be quite a haul up into the rocks (had not carefully read the description yet) so now that we are "AT" the drop off site, a week later, I groaned again! (Still had not read the description carefully) The 200' to GZ looked to be half way up the boulder field! Didn't think the Ms. would come so gave her the option but amazingly, trooper that she is!, she decided to tag along thinking she might make it to sign the log by the time I had found the cache. Once I got half way across the meadow realized that would barely make the boulder field, and she perked up the legs quite a bit! Took a bit of meandering around, over, under, and behind several BOULDERS but actually made the find quite quickly! NICE CACHE! all in good shape. TFTC SL visited TBs

Out for the maiden voyage on our new RZR side by side. Girlfriend looked for this one while I tried to keep the two dogs out of the rocks. She looked but for some reason the GPSR was bouncing all over so she didn't have any luck. Guess we'll just have to come back sometime!!!

Out showing off Grand Mesa's colors to visiting family. Have been wanting to log the 4-5 caches in this area for some time as a part of our quest to log all Grand Mesa caches from Leon Peak westward so decided to cache two birds with one stone.

Having toured the visitors center, Lands End observatory, FTF of Scenic Waterfall and set two more caches in our IACG series, we arrived in this area to eat a late lunch, get out the ATV and grab some caches. A drive-by of this one convinced us that we could not take our aged parents nor the ATV over the terrain so have put it off for a couple of weeks.

Wanted to peg some TBs up here to the beautiful neck of the woods before sending them off, thus the log. We WILL be back ready to tackle this just like we did Leon peak, Indian Point, Alkali basin, Doughspoon lake - THE HARD WAY - on foot!
