I WANTED TO PLACE CACHES THAT CAN TEACH AND HIGHLIGHT FACTS ABOUT BIRDS OF PREY. I PLACED THESE CACHES WHERE I HAVE SEEN THESE BIRDS. IF YOU COME TO THIS CACHE WHEN THEY AROUND PLEASE BE SENSITIVE AND RESPECT THEIR PRIVACY BY KEEPING YOUR DISTANCE. COME BACK ANOTHER DAY. THEY DO AVOID THE PRESENCE OF HUMANS AND TRY TO STAY OUT OF THE WAY.

THE BALD EAGLE IS ONE OF TWO EAGLES WE SEE IN COLORADO, THE OTHER IS THE GOLDEN. THE BALD EAGLE IS NATIVE ONLY TO NORTH AMERICA! WE ARE VERY PRIVILEGED TO NOT ONLY HAVE IT AS OUR NATIONAL SYMBOL, BUT AS A PERMANENT RESIDENT TO OUR AREA ONLY. THEY ARE NOT BALD AT ALL. THE NAME CAME FROM THE EARLY SETTLERS WHOSE NAME FOR WHITE HEADED WAS "BALDE".

I CHOSE THIS PLACE FOR THE CACHE BECAUSE IT WAS ABOVE THE LAND FILL THAT I SAW 3 BALD EAGLES, TWO PARENTS TEACHING THEIR IMMATURE BALD TO DO AERIAL MANEUVERS - IT WAS AN AWESOME SIGHT!

I HAVE HAD THE PRIVILEGE OF HANDLING FOUR BALD EAGLES. I HAVE WORKED WITH THEM FOR OVER 14 YEARS. EVERY TIME I HOLD ONE ON MY GLOVE I AM IN AWE, AND CONSIDERED MYSELF VERY FORTUNATE.

There was a convenient place to park about .2mi north. After lots of shoe-lace tying, I snagged the container during a break in traffic. No eagles despite such a nice day. Thanks for placing the cache.
