I didn't see any large animals on my way to this or either of the other three caches in the triangle, but I did see lots of evidence of large animals. Besides the elk and deer tracks and droppings, I also ran across a few aspen trees with bear claw marks on them.
I've been in Homestead Meadows before, but I've never seen them from this angle. I sat and ate some lunch here while looking all around with binoculars. Some dark clouds started forming as I was finishing my lunch, but they only dropped a tiny bit of rain on me as I hiked back to my bike and then biked back to my Jeep. Thanks for giving me a reason to come and see this beautiful place!

Well the triangle hasn't been visited by a cacher since June 2011. I figured that was way too long and I decided these three caches deserved to be logged again. I headed up to Estes this morning from my home in Loveland and made my way south to the locked Forest Service gate on Road 119. Threw on the pack, grabbed the trekking poles and headed up the road. Soon I reached the point where I left the road and headed east for the north ridge of Pierson Mountain. I eventually made it to the ridge and then headed south up to the peak. Soon I was at GZ for "A Cute Triangle" and a quick find was made. Ate a sandwich and then headed back down the ridge to the saddle between Pierson and Lion Head, on my way to "The Lion's Den". I couldn't locate the cairned trail that lead up the mountain so I continued bushwacking east. It wasn't long before I arrived at GZ and quickly found the hiding spot of the ammo box. Signed the log and took a few pictures before continuing south to "Homestead Overlook". A little under 0.6 more miles of bushwacking brought me to GZ of "Homestead Overlook." This one took a little bit of searching as the coordinates zeroed me out about 20 feet NE of the cache but I eventually found it, completing the cute triangle! Took some photos and then headed back to the truck. The total hike for the triangle was 7.2 miles with just under 3200 feet of gross elevation gain. Now it's time to rest. Thanks t-xman!!!

Found this one along with Denali41 and pup Teewinot. Our challenging but fun approach was from the west after reaching the summit of Pierson. Yes, it was good to finally capture this cache after having looked up from the meadow in the past. From here, it was an easy jaunt to The Lion's Den. I really enjoy the mountain geocaches!TFTC

I've looked up at this cache vicinity from Homestead Meadows on a couple of occasions, but never had sufficient time to make the hike up to the cache. Today, Silver Trekker, my puppy Teewinot, and I set out to reach the summits of Lion Head and Pierson Mountain (the second time on each of them for my puppy Teewinot and me, and the first time for Silver Trekker); we decided to extend the trip a bit by getting over to Homestead Overlook. I'm glad we decided to do this. The hike up to this highpoint from the western side is an interesting effort because of the cliff faces we encountered, but by using careful route finding getting to the top did not require technical rock climbing or anything beyond Class 2 work. At the top we sat and enjoyed the marvelous vistas in all directions. Golly, WHAT an overview. Then, we looked for and quickly located the cache. The container and everything in it are in great condition. We signed the log, replaced the container, and eventually had to resist the urge to remain there while looking out at the remarkable scenery. We had other objectives for the day, so we needed to set out for them. We did. Thanks for this great cache!

I don't know how more clear it could be. There was an original cache called Engberts .... It was close to private property and the original coords put you on private property. There fore the cache was removed and moved to a new location with a new title.

I intended to go after this, but I am somewhat confused. Are the coordinates in the listing the location of the cache, or aren't they? A look at the coordinates in Google Earth indicates that they are (they match the described new location on the topo map), but the description makes a point about talking about the fact that the cache has been moved.
If the typo was corrected by CO_Admin, there would be a note in the logs. But there is no correction note. This is why I am confused.
It seems that others are finding the cache, so the coordinates are probably right. But it might not be a bad idea to note in the description that the posted coordinates are indeed correct, to help befuddled folks like myself.

Little did I know what I was in for. I just charged up the hill, little bits at a time. Great view. I hung out for awhile then went for Lion's Den. Thanks
I think there may be a cache up there

Well we couldn't let this one get 2 years without a find. My friend and I made the hike up. It almost got on my Geo-torture list. It was the great view of the homesteads that made it worth the hike. Left a Geocoin. T4TC! SL

I did this cache with the Westerner. We enjoyed the hike up to those old homesteads and reading about the history of the area and catching this cache was a bonus. The views from up here are excellent. If you do both of these caches in the same day bring plenty of water. Thanks for the cache. TNLNSL
