The Mystery of the DNF

Eight months after a FTF at Too Much Sushi, Fork L Man met up with Seek DaCache, DaToad, and DaWife (who had all found the cache that first day) to solve some mysterious geocaches. These cachers joined forces with sleuthers and ernie66 to obtain the clue of the dancing puppet so that they could solve the mystery of crocodile island. Vorticity joined in, and said "What a croc," we need to be working for world peace, doing some CITO projects, or trying to solve the mystery at Lilac Inn (with 8 straight DNFs so far). They all agreed on the latter.

They didn't have GPS coordinates, so the first step was the quest of the missing map. They logged onto geocaching.com only to find out that they needed a premium account. They got in by hacking the user name and the password. To Larkspur Lane they went according to the map, however once they got there, Miles ToGeo and Lord Mike asked for their assistance in solving the double jinx mystery, which had 8 days of nothing but DNFs.

Being the kind and helpful geocachers that they were, they headed to the haunted carousel where it seemed they were all being watched by the emerald-eyed cat. Mystery time was truncated when Salugie arrived, and he and FLM took TWO BIG STEPS TO THE NORTH and turned on their geolights. They discovered a loose piece of black camo tape in the mirror image of the cat. Upon closer examination, they found a small 3" round IKEA container near the front-right leg of the figurine. While everyone scrambled to sign the log, uciphd and TatteredShoes arrived yelling "Woohoo!" (probably excited about getting an easy smiley).

With the mystery solved, they all skipped the Inn, and proudly strutted down (with their feet well in front) to the Underneath Cafe (since The Sink in Boulder was too far away) to celebrate their success.

Congrats to sleuthers on FTF!!!!

Congrats to uciphd on Eighth to Find

Double congrats to Cacher TBD for Eighty-eighth to Find!!!!

Note: I added a container with a new log on August 21, 2016. So, it is a regular cache now, instead of a virtual-puzzle. The left-front placement is now valid; however the months of July and August are NOT recommended due to the number of wasps/hornets that are in the area. An alternate smiley is offered by just sending a digital picture (jpeg image) of what you see when you take two steps to the North, or take a picture of the container (bigger than a 35mm film container, which should be a safe act even during the hot summer months).

Clever puzzle! It threw me back to my younger days. Today I took advantage of nearby parking and went down to make the find. All is well with a dry log here!
Today I had two missions - find a container large enough to accept a TB I'm carrying, and find a bunch of caches. We headed north to Westminster and Louisville. The fall weather was beautiful; cool and sunny. It was nice to cache without sweating too much. We found some cool cache containers, but failed on our first mission. No containers large enough to accommodate our TB.
Thanks for the cache!

Solved this puzzle a month or so ago finally came back to this part of town and had the chance to find the cache! 1 of 2 puzzle caches logged. This was my first puzzle Cache and an awesome one at that.

Just dropped my car off locally for a service and I am caching my way home. There were muggle construction workers here the last time I visited. Today was ghostly quiet so I could make a quick retrieval here. Thanks for the puzzle and cache.

Most appropriate find, since I'm in town for the Dead & Co shows. I can't believe this hasn't been found since 2017. I found the cache in great shape with a fresh new unsigned log. TFTC!

I stopped by here on Sunday, and added a new cache container with a new log. It's good to go again; but I wouldn't recommend visiting this cache in July or August (too many wasps or hornets around).

Solved puzzle with a little hint from CO. Was easy once I understand the nature of the puzzle. However, bit confused on the actual location. Coordinates checked out fine on coordinate checker but the virtual aspect of this left me scratching my head. Searched around. Almost stuck my hand in a hornet's nest. But ended up taking pics and sending them to CO. Will wait to hear what they say.

As we were looking for a few nearby caches to find during a break in the rain, we noticed this puzzle. It took a while for us to figure out the "key" to the puzzle, but once we did, it was quick work. Fortunately it was still sunny when we got out there--though not for long. Thanks for an entertaining puzzle!
