High above Hot Sulphur Springs, Take a look and imagine a day back in 1911....

At 10 years of age Horace Button watched a ski jump comp and said 'I want to be a ski jumper like Carl Howelson. This was in 1911. This cache takes you to a place where you can see what used to be one of the first ski runs in Grand County. The winter carnival which has been held since 1911 is said to have influenced Colorado and US skiing in its beginnings. Horace Button helped to coach skiers such as Jim Harsh of Grand Lake who went to the 1932 Olympic games. He was an all around, all American skier winning awards over many better names skiers. Over his lifetime he coached 12 National champions. And it all started in Hot Sulphur Springs (originally known as Saratoga West or Warm Springs.

Nice overlook of HSS. Beautiful day. Great short walk. Of course, had to return to car for pen. Container is dry and in good shape. Camo is beginning to wear off, though. Thanks for the bit of history.
