My cache-kids and I love mythology, so here is #7 in the series. This walk around the lake is one of our favorite spots - Enjoy the views and maybe a little fishing. Please put the cache back as found; also please open container by twisting the sides of the lid - Do not attempt to unscrew metal loop at the top of lid, thanks.

CONGRATULATIONS to SeekDaCache for FTF!

GLAUCUS: According to Ovid in Metamorphoses, Glaucus began his life as a mortal fisherman living in the city of Anthedon. He accidentally discovered a magical herb which could bring the fish he caught back to life and decided to try eating it himself. The herb made him immortal, but it also caused him to grow fins instead of arms and a fish's tail instead of legs (though some versions say he simply became a merman-like being), forcing him to dwell forever in the sea. Glaucus was initially upset by this, but Oceanus and Tethys (Titans and parents to the river-gods) welcomed him into their sea-realm and he was quickly accepted among the deities of the sea.

Glaucus fell in love with the beautiful nymph Scylla and wanted her for his wife, but she was appalled by his fish-like features and fled onto land when he tried to approach her. He asked the witch Circe for a potion to make Scylla fall in love with him, but Circe fell in love with him instead. She tried to win his heart with her most passionate and loving words, telling him to scorn Scylla and stay with her. But he replied that trees would grow on the ocean floor and seaweed would grow on the highest mountain before he would stop loving Scylla. In her anger, Circe poisoned the pool where Scylla bathed, transforming her into a terrible monster with six heads and twelve feet, the monster most famously known from "The Odyssey", where Odysseus encountered the infamous non-choice of Scylla or Charybdis.

Went to check on cache. It is still in place. There were a few stray wasps trying to keep me from checking on it, but still reachable.

P.S. To add injury to the insult of another DNF, I whacked my head the last time I came out from under the bridge and the walk back up the hill was breath defying.

After finding your three new myth caches, I stopped at the park for a second try at this cache since it had been found earlier this month by a cacher who has only logged 11 caches. Long search, back and forth many times, into the water, up on the bridge to lean over for another perspective look. No joy. Poo.

Checked on cache after last log. Lid had just popped off, but the rest of the cache was where it should be. Thanks to the previous cacher for putting the lid in a safe place so now it is all back together

Unfortunately all I found was a well camoed pill bottle lid (see photo). I couldn't find anything else. I put it in a corner under the bridge. Maybe someone will find the rest. Pretty camo tape though.

Have not been out this way in some time. Would have found this a lot sooner if I had not spent so much time looking on the wrong side. That happens more often than I care to think about. Was glad I did could retrieve the cache and not have to try open it while in it's hiding spot. TFTC
