NOTE: FIRST FEW FINDERS INDICATED SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT COORDINATES. RECHECKED OUR COORDINATES AT THE CACHE LOCATION ON 9/16/02 AND FOUND THE FOLLOWING: N39 39.250 - W106 06.494. Silverthorne, Summit County, Colorado - Located just off a nice, well-used trail.
This cache was hidden on 09/02/2002. The cache is located just off a well-used, popular, Summit County trail in Silverthorne, Colorado (check the hints if you want the exact trailhead name). The cache is in a Tupperware container (with a white top). Initial contents are as follows:

Logbook with a pencil and pencil sharpener
Mini CD Disk –“Gentlemen Start Your Engines”
Toy Race Truck
Replacement shoelaces for hiking boots
Scrub Pad
Key Chain
Jacks & Ball
Silly Putty
Caesars’ Palace Medallion
Super Ball
Mardi Gras Beads
Yellow Bug
Copper Mountain Magnets (3)

It’s a nice hike from the trailhead and you should enjoy it (be careful, as there’s no overnight parking at the trailhead, however, day parking is OK). The published coordinates were taken using an e-Trex, with an indicated accuracy of 24 feet (best we could do with the trees and mountains) and are an average of three separate readings taken over the cache site (I walked away from the cache site and then back, three different times and the coordinate readings didn’t vary more than .003). This cache will probably not be visible in the winter due to the snow pack (at least we hope so :>). Check the hints if you need some more clues. If you’re like us, you don’t like to look at any of the hints unless you’re not being successful in locating the cache initially using just the coordinates and write-up (the hints should give you some pretty good directions, so don’t peek unless you need to :>).

 Hints

Try starting out at the Willow Creek Trailhead.

After WADING across the creek the SECOND time (the ones with water in them)- (and DON'T count any you cross on bridges), and passing through a small aspen grove, take the NEXT left turn at an intersecting trail.

Keep hiking upward and begin looking for a small, “bent-over” pine tree, growing on the right-hand side of the trail, that curves over the trail (you’re getting really close).

Look for a vertical stick “in” a rock.

That’s enough clues :>). E-mail us if you need some more help – GOOD HUNTING!!

Didn't try for this one, too far off the trail and too many fallen trees to scramble over.

Found this cache in need of a funeral due 4 trees have fallen on the rock in which it laid and completely smashed the container to a tin of small pieces this was noted almost exactly 6 years ago by Donjill3.

So I replace container as well as the logbook added new trinkets and some of the original contents scattered around on forest floor

FYI this is off trail threw down timber be careful when navigating for it only takes a little bit to move a big tree from its curious position above you down on top of you or your friends

You're welcome copper crew

Lots of fallen dead trees, hard to go off trail very far!

Didn't find anything - was in area as seen in photo. Seemed quite a distance off the trail. Easiest access from Ditch trail and Eagles Nest.

Found the cache on our way up to the Willow Lakes for an overnighter. Nice views nearby. Cache is in bad shape as described by the prior logger.

To owner, please replace the container, and maybe move GZ to make it a safer to access.
pending from which side one approaches ,navigating the fallen trees can be tricky

They no longer allow parking on the roads in the Eagles Nest subdivision so we couldn't start from the actual trailhead closest to the cache. We had to start over at the Willow Creek trailhead in Willowbrook and by the time we figured our way around (nice hike, by the way!) my kids were too tired to actually backtrack and look for the cache AND I had problems with my GPS! I was disappointed, however there is a direct trail from the Willowbrook trail to the Eagles Nest trail and we will try that next time.

Found it, TNSL. Tupperware is broken, and looks like a rodent got at it. Previous notes regarding location are more accurate than original coordinates.

The container is broken the log was deteriorated or missing. We added a new log and put it in a baggie.
