Should be easy to find just off the main trail as you near the summit.

Mount Rosa isn't the biggest or most recognized peak in the southern Front Range, but that's what makes it so special. Rosa is the cone-shaped mountain in the Colorado Springs skyline south of Pikes Peak. Mount Rosa shares the distinction of being in the Pike National Forest just south of Pikes Peak and is one of the few pointy mountains in the Front Range.

This mountain is now thought to be the actual mountain climbed by Zebulon Pike in 1806 rather than the nearby Pikes Peak. He set out from the south trying to reach the tallest point in the southern Front Range, and it is believed that he mistakenly climbed and camped in a cave just on the east side of Mount Rosa beneath the summit. As he reached the top, he discovered that the tallest point, Pikes Peak, was actually miles away to the West and many more mountains stood in his way. Look for a book (currently being written) entitled, "Tracking Pike Across Colorado" by John Murphy where he goes into detail about this research.

Left the North Cheyenne Canyon parking lot at sunrise this morning with 2 goals: summit Mt. Rosa before the weather rolled in and pick up a few specific higher-altitude caches for a challenge I've been working on for a while. Skipped a bunch of caches along the way due to previously posted DNFs, which freed up quite a bit of time to explore elsewhere - after summitting, I dropped south to Pike's Cave and then down to FR 381 (recon'd it back to where the trail crosses it - it's in great shape!), detoured to St. Mary's Falls, and even finally got to Four Paws. What a GREAT hike! I had been putting this one off due to trail reports talking about bullets whizzing overhead(!!) but those must have been from the Frosty Park approach - today's hike was quiet and felt totally safe. My fitbit clocked me in at 20.15 miles by the time the rain encouraged me to go back to the car. Thanks for placing this cache! Thanks for choosing a tree I could climb even after the STEEP climb from so far below!

Made the find after summitting the nearby Mt Rosa. Very grateful for the hint as I would have probably missed it completely! Thanks for placing the cache here and for making my hike that much more enjoyable!!

! My wife saw this one and pounced while I was still nose-in-the-gps headed in. All I could do was grab my phone and start recording for posterity!!
The guys in my group back home - where all our high T-rated stuff has to be like this- thought it was hillarious, razzing when they first saw the pics they thought it was ME in pink & purple trail running clothes grabbing the cache!!!!!

Found this one on the way to the summit. Getting to the container wasn't to bad but keeping all the swag in it with the wind blowing was the HARD part!! Stamped the log and we're off to the summit. [8d][8d] SL TFTC TNLN

Are you serious?! Up there?! Ugh..... Repair job completed. T5 is right. I smell so piney fresh now like a newly cut Christmas tree! Smile No cipher discs needed here!

Look folks, be careful with this cache and where it is. It should be good to go where it is now, but just be careful. You don't need to move it, just carefully open it, sign & replace log and close it carefully.

Another triple fizzy block filled and another step to 2T! Tftc PieperCO!!
