ABOUT THE SERIES

The Stanford Hill Series is a 12-cache mini-geotour surrounding the Stanford Hill subdivision in Aurora. Stanford Hill was completed in 2003, and is conveniently situated between Antelope Ridge Elementary, Thunder Ridge Middle, and Eaglecrest High Schools. The 1100+ residents are proud of their clean, peaceful, family-friendly neighborhood. For these reasons, please be discreet and stealthy while geocaching in this area. Please refrain from caching during school arrival and dismissal times, as well as after dark.

You will get the most enjoyment from the series by caching in numerical order. Refer to the “Parking” waypoint in cache #1, “Anteloper” (GC7WFBE), for the closest available parking. The walking distance for the entire series is about 2.5 miles.

Finding the final in the series, “What Does This Hill Stand For?” will require information obtained from within each of the caches in the series. This information is in the form of a numeric code, which when put together in order will give you the final cache coordinates.

ABOUT THIS CACHE

Rubber Rabbitbrush? Yep, that’s really what this stuff is called. The name refers to the rubber content in the sap. Rabbitbrush was first tested as a source of high quality rubber during World War II. In recent decades, there has been renewed interest in its potential for production of rubber, resins, and other chemicals. Compounds in rubber rabbitbrush are being evaluated for nematocides, anti-malarial properties, and insect repellents. Rubber rabbitbrush has also been identified as a potential source of biomass and biocrude fuels.

Follow the dirt trail to GZ. Look for a camoed pill bottle. Plenty of room for swag and trackables. Now, Raid the Rubber Rabbitbrush!

Got lucky & spotted this. Surprised the log was torn into tiny pieces.

Majorly muggled. We did our best to pick up the pieces and tried to re place somewhere not visible from above. I'll send a picture of where I put it so CO can go and fix it up and restore it. We unfortunately didn't have a replacement log.

Sara made the find of the bottom half of the container about 15 feet down hill At GZ we found fragments of the log scattered about. The lid was nearby as well as some of the swag. We collected up everything and put the cache back under better cover and less visible. We signed a fragment of the log. Thank you for the placement!

That one was quite a bit challenging. However, after searching a long time, we did a last ditch effort to come at it from above, and prove very helpful

Got to GZ and there were lots of flies everywhere. Took some looking, but there it was! Signed log. Thanks for the cache!

Found while trying to complete the SHS series. While I was searching a homeowner in the red house was starting at me through her sliding glass window. This was a tough find for me with so much brush to search through. Coordinates were jumping around for me. With enough time and expanding the search a bit, I was able to make the find. Thank you for placing this cache and helping to keep our recreation going.

Wow - this was a really tough one for us. When we got there heard people talking in the bushes. Turned out to be teenagers who quickly departed once they spotted us. Searched and searched with coords very bouncy for us. Finally spotted the clever hide. Took the TB to move along.

{FTF} @ 0718. Saw this publish and expected the normal crowd to get it last night. Was surprised when it was unfound this morning and, since I now know the area well, went over for the hunt. Muddy and the bushes were wet from the overnight rain but the coords were right on and made the find. TFTC!
