In 1888 The Rock Island Line was built from Limon, CO to Colorado Springs to make a faster route to Colorado Springs from the Union-Pacific Railroad.

There was a train stop near this location that allowed the local ranchers to sell their grain and cattle close to their farms. The trains then could pick up and drop off these goods at the stop.

The town was started in 1909 and was called Simla because the daughter of the Train owner was reading a book about India and came across a town called Shimla. In 1912 the town of Simla became an incorporated town.

This spot that you are at is what is left from the Rock Island Line that was ripped up in the 1980's. If you are lucky, you may even spot old pieces from the rail line as you are looking for this cache.

Congrats to THeSKuLL For the FTF!!!!!
