Great hike today down from Duffield but there was more snow than we expected. The T rating earned its stars today! I spotted this one quickly and then we were on the way back, trying to beat the early sunset. I don’t think I’ve ever hiked through this section of Gold Camp before, so thanks for the incentive!

I'm not crazy about these fizzy fillers because they diminish that sense of accomplishment that comes from having worked hard to achieve challenges. Fizzy is only one of the challenges that these skewed ratings apply to. The stats on the actual difficulty and terrain of a cache are no longer accurate and therefore not valid. When cachers actually qualify for The Two-Star Difficulty & Terrain Challenge (mine lol!) in the past, they had something to be proud of. This skewing of numbers has changed all that. But The Artist Formerly Known As RPieperCO (oh, he is still known, but has 6 other significant paws now to help him) is one of my favorites, because he hides caches that are worthy physical challenges.
This one was an easy find and the name says it all. Thank you for making us continue this far...through the snow.

we were looking at getting this cache coming from the other direction, but started up gold camp road this morning and thought, it’s a lovely day! why not just keep going? tftc!
