In military jargon, a gonkulator is something that doesn’t really exist, but produces results.  As in, “We put together a whole bunch of information from different sources, ran it through the gonkulator, and came up with this idea ... ”

There are other references to the gonkulator, sometimes spelled gonculator:

A gonculator is a fictional mysterious electronic device featured in the Hogan’s Heroes fourth season episode Klink vs. The Gonculator.

The term has since appeared in online dictionaries and even a holiday celebrated on the 5th of October, the date the Hogan’s Heroes episode originally aired.

A gonkulator is a ring modulator pedal used by some musical bands:  Sonic Youth, Tool, Incubus, and most notably, the theme for the “South Park” TV series, as recorded by Primus.

This gonkulator is a metal ammo can in the woods that produces a watertight space for a logsheet, trackables (not always) and swag on occasion.  Stop by to sign the log to prove to the world that not only does the gonkulator really exist, but you have seen and held one in your very own hands !

Congratulations to jherber for being FTF !

Got home from a work trip on the east coast, and saw a couple new caches along this gorgeous trail. Made my way over this afternoon and enjoyed some rain while I hunted. Thanks for some fresh smileys here!

Easy walk and easy find from where I parked. Nice placement and always love a ammo can in the woods. Signed log and scurried back to my truck since it was drizzling. Thanks 3Williams Kidz.

Didn’t get an early start as normal.

I got to parking as the sun was peaking on the horizon.

Two other vehicles had claimed the premium parking spots way before I arrived.

Funny thing is I found three traditionals and one puzzle cache back in here and saw no one?

Anyway, thanks for another fun container to hunt for!

It’s always fun to see a working gonkulator in the field. Apologies to Dean & Chris for the delayed log… I didn’t have sufficient cell reception to log it while on-site. I had the parking area to myself when I arrived and signed the log in the third spot. Ammo can in the woods… automatic fave! Traded out some trackables, TFTC!

We thought that we would have been 2nd to find, but there were 2 other signatures on the paper log. So we are only the fourth to find. Nice hide! We love finding ammo cans in the woods. Exchanged a couple of trackables here. Thank you very much for the cache. Awarding a favorite point.

TFTC I am back in Woodland Park for the summer. I am working on some of my statistics and challenges.
I was out for a cool walk this morning when the notification came of new caches in the area. I had to drive to the Colorado Springs AirPort to pick up my brother-in-law, but there are priorities we all have to follow. Luckily I was able to find the cache quickly. Thanks to the CO for more great caches in the area. I left the {*FTF*} prize for another Cacher.

All was in good order. SL TNLN
