Well we made our annual trip to Taylor Park for the RZR Rally and had a ball. Checked all my caches and did maintenance as needed. All are ready to be found.

FTF nice ride up here, great overlook of the lake - cache in perfect shape after being up here lonely for nearly a year.
We spied this a month ago and planned it out.
Anyone interested in this area would need to take 758.1 which is a one way in/out.
Thanks for the cache!
This is one more adventure we never would have done if not for geocaching!
About 20yrs ago older friends of ours drove from St Elmo to Tincup in a Pinto! We've been wanting to relive their adventure and when we decided to camp with other friends in Colorado Springs this year we decided we were heading to Tincup! One of our group Rooski22 saw these four lonely caches by Wizeoldfartz. After much research we determined it was iffy and too risky to drive our stock 4x4 from St Elmo to Tincup, so instead we chose to drive 4hrs from Divide through Gunnison to Taylor Park and rent a RZR to do these caches instead. We had moved from the Springs to Mueller state park and had close to a 4hr drive each way up to Taylor Park. We did a halfday rental. Rented the RZR in Taylor Park from C.A.R. I was concerned about needing a permit to ride the ATV, but that is for the ATV not the rider, so if you rent you are covered, if you bring your own ATV it must be permitted (and I'd ask the CO how to do that as they bring their RZR from AZ to ride here in summer).
Our plan was to go for the 4 caches by Wizeoldfartz: GC7BKAN, GC7BKAK, GC7BKAG, GC7BKAF placed in Aug 2017 and never found - the chance for an FTF wayyy out here made it more exciting than just driving to Tincup. Note that although you could do part of this in a 4x4 the trail narrows to just ATV wide at one point so really you can only do this via ATV, or a very long hike!
Using forest service maps we determined that all 4 caches are on Cty Rd 758.1, accessed off 752. We downloaded the caches for offline use on the GC app and used the Open Cycle map which actually shows the trail, but calls it Kentucky Ridge and Kentucky Gulch.
We had hoped to make a loop on this trip by connecting to what the forest service map shows as 758.1B which supposedly connects to 764 the Slaughterhouse trail, and by the forest service road status shows it's supposed to be open - however we never saw connector road 758.1B and where it may be had a tree over it as that road goes by private property. So we had to backtrack to 752. Once we got back we were close to 3hrs on our 3.5hr rental and we were exhausted, so we called it a day going for these 4 caches.
All caches were found except for GC7BKAN as it appears the area has been disturbed quite a bit. We placed a new container and the CO will check on it in Aug.
It did seem like there is a path over the ridge at GC7BKAN, however this does not appear on any trail maps so we did not see if it lead down to Abbeyville or dead ended - due to it being 2hrs to that point we didn't try going on as we knew we had to backtrack. (And once we backtracked we were at the 3hr point).
Awesome trip overall! Great hides by CO. Beautiful views! Nice place for first time ATVers. It's amazing with all the people playing here that we only cam across other ATVs possibly 3x on our 12-16 mile trek down and back via 758.1
If you want more info on the 758.1 trail, refer to Trail #9 in the ATV trail guide for Taylor Park, it's called the Union Park trail. Note that even this trail guide says you need to backtrack once on 758.1
Finished the day up here with a drive in our truck into Tincup so we could say we were there and ate a VERY good meal at Frenchy's to top it off - ohh and a shake in a tin cup in Tincup makes it even better!!!
