“COLORADO SPIRIT QUEST”

The Colorado Spirit Quest is a series of Caches placed by many individuals, near cemeteries and historic sites in hopes of paying respect to the many pioneer ancestors that have ‘walked’ before us.

There are hundreds of cemeteries in the rural and mountain communities across Colorado.  This series will introduce you to many of them.

The cache pages will provide a virtual history tour of the cemeteries and tombstones.

COLORADO SPIRIT QUEST is not affiliated with any other ‘Spirit Quest’ group.  Special thanks and credit are given to SixDogTeam who started the Indiana Spirit Quest in 2004. The idea has rapidly spread into many states.

The CSQ endeavor is an enormous and relentless task.  It cannot be accomplished by just one or two people.  This project will only flourish if there is a multitude of volunteer cachers  willing to place these caches. 

After locating the cache container, take some time to reflect back on the lives of those pioneers and the effort it took to make Colorado such a great state.

The cache container is a camoed 35mm film canister.  You will not need to enter the cemetery proper to find the cache.

This cemetery contains about 120 headstones. It was used from 1942-1945 while Camp Amache, a Japanese relocation camp, was in operation.

A total of 31 Japanese American who volunteered to fight in Europe and died are noted here on the Honor Roll.  The most highly decorated veteran was Kiyoshi Muranaga who was awarded the Congessional Medal of Honor.

Headed back to Fort Collins from our mini spur of the moment geo trip to see my brother. Decided we would try and chip away some of the Santa Fe Trail and it lead us through this lovely town. The container was not quite where I expected it to be, but it was less than ten feet away, so I didn't have too much trouble finding it. If it weren't for geocaching I wouldn't have discovered this fascinating location, neither the cemetery nor the rest of the camp, so good job, thanks for the history lesson, and TFTC! And thank you for bringing me to 359 days in a row!!

This is a nicely cared for location. It looks like for the memorial day weekend someone has placed carnations on all of the headstones. Thank you for bringing us here and allowing us to pay our respects.

Fourth full day of my "EPIC Adventure 2018" trip with Brewce. Today our plans consisted of hitting the 2 oldest caches in Kansas for Brewce (I already had), and then whatever else made its way in our path. Hm, who would have thought that we'd have another incredible day with not much planned?! Besides the two oldest geocaches in Kansas, impromptu caching yielded some cool and interesting virtuals, we were able to climb the high point of Kansas , got to see the world's biggest ball of twine, the Geodetic center (or as close as you can get), and teh center of the United States of America...again -- all unplanned!! WOW, another amazing day!

WOW....just wow. The feeling here was so, well I don't know how to say it. We drove in to Amache and took a look around, then it was a short drive through the camp to the cemetery. We made the find quickly and then went over to the cemetery. The entire camp had a somber feeling, we both felt sadness overwhelmingly.

We headed out from Milwaukee to the great West, on the agenda were: 8 - Y2K caches, completing my 3x Jasmer and setting me up nicely for 4x Jasmer, virtual geocaches, webcams, challenge caches, caches helping complete already signed challenges, high favorite pointed caches, and, most importantly, fun and laughter along with anything else we wanted to stop and do! We achieved all those things and more, so much more. We saw things we never knew about or never thought we would see - amazing! Our timing for the entire trip could not have been planned any better. Driving by car is the best way to see America, it allows for impromptu stops and deviations, which we did...many times....and on this trip we drove a total of 4,500 miles and all I can keep saying is "wow, just wow!!" of all we saw. One of my best adventures ever thanks to geocaching, thanks for being part of it!

Thank you so much for bringing me here. Its real life to the history books, one that I hope is NOT repeated.

Stopped for the nearby virtual and saw this cemetary cache nearby, so we drove down the desolate gravel drives to reach this back corner. I sensed great sadness and sorrow while visiting this site, which reflects its place in history.

Returning home to Wisconsin from an Epic Trip to Utah, Colorado, and Kansas to grab some oldies, webcams, virtuals, and visit other local points of interests with Bushwhacking Queen.

Found on trip through to Pikes Peak. Sad place to be for the reason it exists. Cache was in good shape, signed and returned, TFTC!!!!
