Welcome to The Disc Golf Tour!

Get ready for an adventure that combines the best of two worlds: Disc Golf and Geocaching! This 10-cache series is designed to bring these vibrant communities together. Don’t be overwhelmed by the information—embrace the challenge! If you’re just here for a quick find, the next section is for you. But for those who dare to take on the full series, amazing rewards await!

Branch

You have to decide which branch to perch your car on before heading into this GZ! Do you dare risk the towable zones, or do you stick with the theme of the series and park in the disc golf lot? Make your way to GZ by any of the waypoints and using the scenic Westfork trail. Just remember, when you reach a fork in the path, it’s time to branch out and head west! The cache found its only plausible home with a newly constructed structure that allows an easier flow of water. Be mindful of the efforts to preserve the new vegetational growth around the area, but have fun swinging from branch to branch!

Series Details

The Disc Golf Tour series will be a difficult challenge to complete due to the spread of courses which are amongst my most played. The 10 disc golf courses span across Denver and CO Springs area, approximately a 50-100 mile radius. All of the caches are 3D printed and look the same albeit custom made for each location. Finding one from the series will help you know what to look for on the remaining tour. Small TBs may work their way into this cache, however they are truly designed to contain logs only. Tweezers may come in handy!

I know, you want to hear about the prizes. Well, first of all, each cache will feature a FTF prize, but I know that is not exciting enough for the rest of the community. Thus, if you complete The Disc Golf Tour by finding all 10 caches, you'll be rewarded with a custom 3D printed disc golf mini and geocoin! Each cache in the series will also award you with an unofficial Geocaching Souvenir. Yes, unfortunately I did say unofficial. I tried to work with HQ to automatically post the souvenirs to your profile, but they currently do not offer that customizable service. On a monthly basis, I will email the souvenirs out to everyone who wants them.

I will be checking physical logs at milestones that warrant 3D prints to be made. So make sure you physically sign the logs if you want your rewards! Please also be patient with me when getting your rewards. The souvenirs are instantaneous, but since I custom print the minis and geocoins, these can take some time to design and print. Images will give you a better understanding of why they're not made in batches. They have your username!

What is Disc Golf (DG)?!!

Explaination

Disc golf is an exhilarating outdoor sport where players throw a flying disc into a series of elevated metal baskets, aiming to complete each hole in the fewest throws possible. Imagine the thrill of traditional golf, but with frisbees! It’s a game of skill, strategy, and fun, played on courses that weave through parks, forests, and open fields. Whether you’re sinking a long putt or navigating around trees, disc golf offers a unique blend of physical activity and mental challenge, perfect for all ages and fitness levels.

Etiquette and Rules

The following key etiquette and rules will keep you geocachers safe and give respect to disc golfers:

  1. Stay Clear of Fairways: I will never hide geocaches in the direct lines of disc golf play. Avoid disc golf fairways and baskets. Unless of course you are trying out some disc golf yourself!
  2. Be Aware of Your Surroundings: Always be mindful of disc golfers around you. If you see someone preparing to throw, wait until they have finished before moving through the area.
  3. Respect the Course: Do not disturb or alter the disc golf course in any way. This includes not moving baskets, tee markers, or any other course equipment.
  4. Communicate Politely: If you need to cross a fairway or approach a basket to find a geocache, politely inform the disc golfers and ask for their permission. Most players will appreciate the courtesy.
  5. Follow Park Rules: Adhere to all park rules and regulations, including those specific to the disc golf course. This ensures a positive experience for everyone using the park.
  6. Invite Disc Golfers to Join the Fun: Encourage disc golfers to learn about geocaching and give it a try. Share how geocaching can add an extra layer of adventure to their disc golf experience, combining the thrill of the hunt with their love for the outdoors. This can foster a sense of community and mutual respect between both activities.
Fun Facts

Check out these fun facts that might help bridge the gap between these two communities:

  1. TOTT: Did you know disc golfers often have their own telescoping retrievers to grab lost discs? Perhaps you can ask to borrow it for the high unreachable caches in this series!
  2. Outdoor Adventures: Both activities let you explore nature and discover new places.
  3. Community Spirit: Both have passionate communities that love sharing tips and stories.
  4. Treasure Hunts: Geocaching is a real-world treasure hunt, and disc golf feels like one with each hole presenting a new challenge.
  5. Skill and Strategy: Both require a mix of skill and strategy to succeed.
  6. Family-Friendly Fun: Perfect for all ages, making them great for family outings.
FTF Shout Out/Story!

Congrats to turtleboy29 for FTF!!

In the early hours, the geocaching community buzzed with anticipation. A new cache was placed, and the race was on. Turtleboy29, a seasoned cacher, teamed up with 9livesColorado after their first attempt was thwarted.

With fresh intel and help from the CO, they made a second attempt. After a careful search, they found the elusive cache. Turtleboy29 signed the log, but his pen ran out of ink and 9livesColorado improvised by marking the log with a simple “9”.

Their perseverance and teamwork paid off, inspiring others to take on the challenge. The cache is now officially on the map, ready for discovery.

Good Luck on Your Disc Golf Tour!

Knew where it had to be, but couldn’t reach it, so I had to go and get a suitable TOTT. Signed log. Thanks for a sneaky one!

Found it 09/13/2024 By Hoopsloth
Took a few minutes and had to get into some uncomfortable positions, but made the find and retrieve without the use of any TOTTs. It’s in the most logical spot, you just wish it wasn’t. Thanks for the challenge!

Woo hoo! {Ftf} with 9livesColorado after returning with a tott that helped and more intel from CO. Quick fund this tome and grateful no spiders! My pen did and 9livesColorado didn't have one. I got of my name and a 9. I put a picture in my draft but apparently didn't save it before handing pho e back to 9livesColorado. So he just signed with a 9. Not as many golfers put as expected. Good hide that's tricky to retrieve. Thanks for the cache

Double Check

I came by this morning, and the cache is right where I hid it with good coordinates.

It's definitely a tight squeeze and far reach. I can touch the cache from two methods but grab it from only one. Good luck again!

Add us to the dnf list. Looked and felt everywhere we could reach. Will come back after someone else finds. Thanks for the adventure

Difficulty Rating

I am upping the difficulty rating from 3.5 to 4.5 based on two DNFs and comparison to others in the series. I know its there since I just placed it. I may need to make it a 5.0 if it continues to be elusive. Good luck cachers! Whose gonna take that FTF prize??

P.S.

I believe the coords are spot on but will check again next time I am in the area.

0/2 for FTF. Spent about 20 minutes looking, feeling, crawling, using phone camera. Came up with nothing.
