What do you know!?  RPieperCO hosted another hiking party and invited some friends and family along.  No surprise, he had a few containers in his pack and had already spotted a place that seemed to be missing a cache!  What's worse, is that he is going to make you hike this trail....  Again... Or if you are really fortunate this will be a first hike and adds another stop along the way!

 

 

It's a tough, but fun loop.  If you do the whole trail up from Mt. Dewey continue up and over the Horseshoe connector and down the Catamount expect 7.5 miles and an elevation gain of 1,625'.  Here is a trail map: http://www.gmfcotrails.org/Trails-Map.html 

 

Now where is the cache exactly?  Well if I were to stand at the posted coords ( a great place to visit btw ) and look westward at 306.294016, I would see the cache on top of the hill exactly 6272.283 feet away.  Now go get it!

 

A couple things to keep in mind.  The town of Green Mountain Falls is very picky about parking.  Park at the recommended parking coords.  Be sure to bring a lot of water, and snacks.  You're going to need it.  Lastly, plan for a varying degree of weather and keep an eye on the clouds that form to the west.  Storms blow in very fast here!

RPieperCO and GoMRT have left very little space in this area for new caches, but that's a GOOD thing because it's my kind of hike - several options on routes to the caches and just enough distance and elevation gain that you feel like you accomplished something but didn't overdo it. I remember the days when I overdid it, frequently. I wish the people I cached with would hurry up and start slowing down too. Thanks for the fun and perfect hike.

Out doing the loop (again) with estes01. Eventually the entire loop will be saturated...then what? A few leaves are starting to turn and the trail is getting crunchy with fallen leaves. TFTC!

It was a beautiful day to be out on the trails. There is definitely a feeling of fall in the air and a dusting of snow on the peak already. I came up from the Catamount side and did the loop to this one on the way back toward town. It took a while for my GPS to settle down but when it finally did the coords were right on. TFTC

Started an epic caching weekend by checking out the fire tower, then meandering south along Rampart Range Road. Met up with Billkat and GoMRT for a fun hike this morning. Thanks for placing this cache! It's a puzzle I could even solve all by myself! Haha

After dinner I decided to go for a short hike to look for this one.

Nice cool breeze to and from, made it a lot easier and not as much as workout.

At the Event the other day, I caught a glimpse of the container.

At GZ it still surprised me when I saw it.

I signed in on the top spot and headed back down.

Thanks for the puzzle cache with alittle exercise to go with it!
