!! Exciting New Cache Series!!

“COLORADO SPIRIT QUEST”

The Colorado Spirit Quest is a series of Caches placed by many individuals, near cemeteries and historic sites in hopes of paying respect to the many pioneer ancestors that have ‘walked’ before us.

There are hundreds of cemeteries in the rural and mountain communities across Colorado.  This series will introduce you to many of them.

The cache pages will provide a virtual history tour of the cemeteries and tombstones.

COLORADO SPIRIT QUEST is not affiliated with any other ‘Spirit Quest’ group.  Special thanks and credit are given to SixDogTeam who started the Indiana Spirit Quest in 2004. The idea has rapidly spread into many states.

The CSQ endeavor is an enormous and relentless task.  It cannot be accomplished by just one or two people.  This project will only flourish if there is a multitude of volunteer cachers  willing to place these caches.

After locating the cache container, take some time to reflect back on the lives of those pioneers and the effort it took to make Colorado such a great state.

If you are interested in joining the “Walking Through History Clan” contact may be made by sending an e-mail to the owner of “Colorado Spirit Quest #1 – Mo untain Passage”.  Use the ‘Send Message” link at the center of the page of their profile.

Each person that places a CSQ cache is responsible for its maintenance.

REMEMBER:

If you are APPREHENSIVE about cemeteries – AVOID this series.

The cache container is a 35mm film canister.  You will need to enter the cemetery to find the cache

This is a moderately sized cemetery for the eastern plains with about 500 headstones with a number of unmarked and unknown graves. The oldest seems to date back to 1888. It is well kept.

Fun last day in Kansas. We (@WindAtMyBack and @intrepiidexplorer ) came out to Hays to grab the amazing gadget caches and others before fulfilling my promise to show up for Benj59's CITO event at Sunflower Mountain. We fueled up with Starbucks and headed out. During our journey west we stopped at several rest stops and grabbed targeted caches. We were lucky enough to meet one of the CO's at her cache and then see her again at the CITO. Great to make new friends. Our journey was more of a loop, as we doubled back to Goodland to finish our work there. Scraped my head pretty good on something near a cache. Thanks to all for the great time. Only 2 DNFs, which were obviously missing, so we replaced them.
Everyone said this was easy. Why can't we find it? Searched the GZ, spiraled out and checked other likely places. Not there. I see where it should be, so we dropped a replacement and put a rock on it. Tftc!

I couldn't resist stopping by one more cemetery, I think I only have about 10 left before fulfilling a challenge I've been working on for the last 3 years or so. I pulled up here and noticed the stump. Got a little closer and saw a good number of wasps going in and out of it. Glad it wasn't GZ. Was careful to keep my distance heading around the stump on the way back to the car. TFTC - #1703

I had a much needed geocaching adventure today. I drove over from Denver to Goodland (KS) last night. Got up this morning and continued east to Mingo. Wound up caching my way there and then back towards Denver, ending with a power trail-ish run between Limon and Deer Trail. Got to see lots of sunflowers and even some antelope along the way. Wound up caching until the sun went down. Now for all those logs…

We have been impressed by all the well-cared-for cemeteries in these small communities on the high plains. The horizon and the clouds are amazing today! TFTC!
