Significant hike  Dangerous Animals  Bicycles  Seasonal Access

This is an amazing area of beauty and wildlife, After the June 2000 Bobcat Gulch fire, that burn 10,600 acres.

Fire is an integral part of the natural cycle in the ponderosa pine forests. This fire burned with greater intensity and caused more destruction. This all came from an abandoned camp fire that ignited some dry grasses, then fanned by wind, the growing blaze engulfed nearby trees. The fire put many people in harms way and cost millions of dollars to fight. Remember only you can prevent a forest fire!

Congratulations to Denali41 for the FTF!

This is a strenuous hike on an excellently-maintained trail system in Bobcat Ridge Natural Area up to an area off the trail in Roosevelt National forest . The hike to the cache is about 2 miles one way (Don't let the Cache distance fool you from the parking lot.) with no shade so take lots of water and sunscreen. This is an ammo box filled with lots of goodies I won at a CITO event in Fort Collins in August. This part of the trail would be easy on Mountain bike.

We were out hiking this area this morning and saw this cache in the area...walked on by on our way up, the dark clouds forming turned us around to return instead of finishing the loop, i couldn't pass it up twice. Made my way off the path to the cache..found it in good shape. Thanks. SL

Had a nice cool overcast day for this one. Just a little drizzle too. No real rain. Perfect for this area. Hard to imagine this area covered with trees and then being totally burned out. Neat location. Nice hide. TNLN. Thanks for the cache! :-)

Thanks Tobin for bringing us to this spot. Your cache was an inducement to us to make the long hike to get a new one a bit further up the trail. The dead trees are strewn about everywhere. The vast devastation is a harsh reminder of the awesome power of fire.

The cache itself is in good condition and is nicely placed.

Decided to go for a short outing today out at Bobcat despite the drizzle. Grabbed this one and "& Ice" to complete the set. Thanks for the fun!

This was my first time hiking in this area. I was very glad for the sun today since it was only in the 30s. I found this one quickly and took the Diabetes TB and left a Diabetes coin. TFTC

Last one for the day. Took the long way around to this one. From Mahoney Park, down the power line road and across to Giny Trail, then back up to this one. Lots of nice hiking on great trails. Thanks! #254.
