I could have named this cache after the road it's alongside, but it would just need renaming. This road is named after the nearby creek, which in turn is named after the nearby mountain, all of which share the former name of the Washington Football Team. According to the petitions currently being considered by the U.S. Board on Geographic Names, Redskin Creek would become Ute Creek and Redskin Mountain would become Mount Jerome, after Irene Jerome Hood, an influential Victorian-era artist and photographer from nearby Buffalo Creek.

But it looks like the road's name is still up for grabs, certainly the cache name is.

I welcome your suggestions in the log.

Be advised that the Difficulty and Terrain ratings will increase when there is snow. The roads in the area are fine for cars but 4wd is highly recomended if there is snow on the road.

I headed out today to fill in a few more of my 360 degrees of Colorado rays. I started out the day with 4 degrees left, if I did things right I'll be down to 1! I also grabbed an FTF and a few others that got in my way. I love days like this, exploring and driving along mountain roads. I really targeted the 360 degree caches today, but then I saw this one with that oh so tempting FTF banner waving. It's not THAT far out of the way... right??? So I headed this way from the main road. I'm really glad I did, the little one has been asking to go camping and we've had a couple successful trials in the back yard. I made my way to GZ and parked at a nearby unoccupied camping site. The search took me a little while. The coordinates are good, just there are a lot of potential hiding spots. I was super excited to open up a blank log!!! {*FTF*} on 9/6 at 14:30. If you're really up for renaming the cache, I suggest Dani's Cache. (my little one) I joke she is part mountain goat, and I'm certain she would be at the top of these rocks in no time. And chances are her first camping trip will be at one of the nearby campsites. Thanks for the FTF and the smiley!
