This cache was placed during the famous 'Grizzly Bear Hunting Expedition of 2014'.

Our expedition party set afloat in Moab and canoed up the Colorado River to Burns, with our final destination being Bison Lake on the Flat Tops. We had to pull into this boat launch to eat at McDonalds since we had just lost most of our food supplies when our canoes were capsized by a bloat of hippos somewhere around the Una Bridge...just west of Parachute. We ate here then headed back on our trip up river. After paddling for a while we were able to catch some yellow fin tuna and salmon to help replenish our lost food supplies. As we approached Glenwood Springs we encountered some natives. They were a rough looking bunch, riding surfboards right in the middle of the river - they wouldn't yield to our expedition party. We managed to maneuver around them somehow without anyone getting hurt then continued up through the canyon. When we finally arrived at Burns it was late. So, after unloading the pack mules from the canoes, we slept that night on the bank of the river.

The next morning we loaded our meager supplies onto the pack mules and headed up to the basecamp at 11,000ft. The going was a little rough; it was -10 deg. and already had 3ft. of snow on the ground. But we pushed on and arrived at Bison lake only to find a UFO parked at our predetermined basecamp location. We thought we were going to have trouble with these little guys but they turned out to be quite friendly and said that they wouldn't be there long - they had only stopped for a while to stretch their legs on their way from Alpha Centuri to Beta Reticuli.

We gave it our best shot but the rest of the expedition went by without ever seeing a grizzly bear. We did however see a couple of elephants, a herd of raindeer and a pack of dingos...unfortunately we hadn't pulled tags for any of them so we just took some pictures. I would have posted the pictures here but a troop of baboons raided our camp one night and made off with the camera. Luckily we still have the memories.

Ok, so everything above is a big 'Fib'...except for the posted coordinates.

Encouraged but not required:

Instead of the usual 'TFTC' or 'Good Hide', post a big 'Fib' of your own about how you came to find this cache...Geocachers are typically pretty good at this.

Happy Trails! (wet or dry)

.

Congratulations to Morgan Fairchild on the FTF!

After finding Fenn's treasure, the Lost Dutchman Mine, the Holy Grail, the Ark of the Covenant, and Noah's Ark within the last 30 days, I decided that I needed to go see old man McGee. He's finicky and won't let you see him unless you turn up Janis Joplin singing Me and Bobby McGee on the Victrola.

Now to get to here, I had to do some trading of favors. Talking to the people over at Special Operations Command, I was able to do a high altitude drop from a passing C-17 with my own wing jet suit. I winged my way over to local area before I needed to get a yellow submarine because the local river is running high with great water flow from the recent snow pack. But before I could get here, I had to meet up with Doc Holliday, Wyatt Earp, Pat Garrett, and Billy the Kid down from Glenwood Springs because they have to protect old man McGee. Yes, Billy traded sides and now wears the badge. On the way with these characters, we ended up meeting up with Ike Clinton and his gang. They seem to wanted to make trouble so we traded show tune songs before they found out we were going to be their huckleberry. In the end, I was able to have a good time with old man McGee and share some stories of days of yore while signing the cache by the old bridge you're not to supposed to cross because it is closed to all people.

Stopped by again is search of my dear Molly one more time. This time I brought my trusty pard’ “Murphy” and sent him up to the hills south of here where I last seen Molly. Dang, I miss her!!
It’s December 1949. Molly & me, stopped here to picnic of the warm sandy beach along the river. We sat there munching on sam handwich’s and sipping our mint juleps when our quiet calm exploded with shouts and swear words never heard before among civilized man coming from this little man who must be related to Yosemite Sam (Sam would be the nice brother), about 4’ tall clothed in what looked like shredded “GI” blankets, with a brown white-streaked beard down to his waist. Jumping up and down, screeching & screaming, waving his arms looking like a pile of leaves been brought to life by the devil. Got in my face with more swearing threats, declaring his love for my dear Molly, thence grabbed her up, took off and fading into the bushes leaving me in total shock and a memory of dear Molly’s pleading screams fading into the distance.
Each year I come back, this time with Murphy, a St Bernard/Mastiff that shrimps of all other St Bernard’s and easily stood taller than that nasty little man. As I write, Murphy just came back and OMG, I believe he must have found them. But he is crying and slinking in so low on his belly, he would have to raise up to get over a piece of paper. Poor Murphy, what a sight – his face absolutely bare naked from the tip of his nose to behind his ears, not even a whisker or an eyelash to be seen, even looking a bit scorched. Even his tail was totally void of hair except for the poodle-puff on the tip. What a sight.
Oh well, maybe next year. Dang, I miss her somthin’ awful!!
With fond memories setting around the radio Sunday afternoons listening to "Fibber MaGee and Molly" and other great shows on the radio, circa 1948

Geocache #2,952
On a road trip from Iowa to visit the Rocky Mountains, Grand Canyon and a few other national parks, and to grab some caches of course! BigSmile This was by far the most difficult find of our trip. It took every TOTT we had - kayak, ladder, climbing sticks, extension grabber, magnets, duct tape, bubblegum, paper clips - you name it! Then right as we were about to finally grab the cache, an earthquake shook which caused a volcano to burst out of the ground and spew lava all over us. Thankfully right then a hurricane spiraled out of nowhere which cooled us down! 17 hours later and after much blood, sweat and tears, we were finally able to sign the log and claim the find. Approve Getting back to the car was a whole nother story... Disapprove

Boy, that was a really tough find after a very long trip from Yuma, Arizona. After 800 miles dedicated to finding this particular cache it was extremely disappointing to come up empty handed after an hour and half of crawling around on my hands and knees. Finally, another look around, is that it? Could be, real small, and camo'ed. Yep, that's it. Yippee, that makes the trip worthwhile.
Signed the log and started the return trip to Yuma. Thanks for the challenge.

Found it...then lost it, then found it again, then lost it again. So does that count?

Established a major expedition to bag this puppy. 10 gallons of whiskey per searcher, plus a sled and a bushel of trained cats. Started out uphill in about 8 feet of snow. Fortunately a giant snail had already laid a trail, and we just sorta slid/slimed our way to gz. Quick grab, open it, and it plum disappeared (or is that peach disappeared around these parts. Anyway, we formed the sled cats into a magical shape, and it popped up again. So we celebrated with the whiskey and haven't been able to find it since

We drove around the intersection for hours attempting to locate the coordinates. It's appears this area has some mystical immenations which affects GPS. By nightfall, it finally hits us that this cache is so large, we'd been driving inside of it, in and out, in and out.

We stopped, signed the giant log book, and searched for a few more hours for an exit out this cache.

What a rush.

Finally a good find on this cache with Liquidelle, BriGuy. First attempt was stopped due to spotting alligators in the area and a possible quick sand area. Upon research on Wikiapedia I learned alligators sink in quick sand also. Tossed a log across the quick sand to stay afloat. Log started moving it's tail, maybe it wasn't a log, but a semi-frozen alligator ? ? Next successful attempt was done with the inflatable alligator my daughter carries in her car. Discovering that I had forgotten the quick-sand paddle after the find, BriGuy passed one out to me. Thus I was able paddle from the quick sand. Advice to future cache finders, alligators can bite holes in quick-sand paddles, paddle quickly. Good traveling as one of the SWAC crew. Best Wishes, DustyRiver - - Why do I carry an inflatable palm tree in my TOTT bag and I can never get my inflatable can opener to work on camping trips? - UPDATE: My inflatable alligator ate Liquidelle's camel.
