Hiked up Blodgett Peak today since it was on my bucket list and used the opportunity to look for and log some nearby caches. This was one of them!! Had to widen my search circle to find this one!!! Cache is in great shape. TFTC!!!!

I made a big sweep on the Rampart Range Rd & road 302 area today ... meant to go on the 2nd, but never got to it.

Maybe it was karma: I was trudging through Garden of the Gods, back when RRR was still closed post-fire; off-trail and headed for GCY60P. Came to the edge of a stream gully & there was a fair commotion below in the brush. I leaned this way and that, looking for a vantage, when movement revealed a little cat face. Then another. Then a shuffle & movement revealed a third little mountain lion kitten. Standing over a deer carcass !

yyyYYeaaahhhhh - somewhere hereabouts is a mother mountain lion. With a litter. And healthy enough to provide them with dinner.

Gampa&gamma, I wish you were here today to protect us from the mountain lion! Strength in numbers. All I know is that something very large and heavy decided to bolt extremely close to where we were hiking and it was large and low and had a distinctly long tail. I felt energized after that, but very watchful on the return trip. Great balancing exercise getting to the cache as one has to be completely mindful of every step. I think I'm getting too old for this!

The early rain this morning had us wondering, but we decided to try the hike anyway. Glad we did because the weather turned out beautiful. We hiked in from Rd302 as we have the last 3 times this area has been our destination.

This time, though, I had a first-time experience in over 10,000 cache finds. We were hiking past a small rock outcrop on the way to the cache when there was a sudden loud crash and a fast-moving figure. Just got a glimpse as it ran off, but the long tawny tail and low profile was unmistakable - a mountain lion!

We gave that area a wide berth on the way back, but I still had an eerie feeling of being watched...I’m sure that cat was still there, watching, watching.

Left a TB, TFTC!

I watched this the last several days hoping it would still not be found until the weekend came and I could get up here. Sure enough it remained unclaimed and I was able to nab an FTF this morning. Thanks to gampa&gamma for the placement! There are a lot of places to look but after expanding my perimeter I found it. IN - some Asian coins OUT - nothing TFTH!!
